The Sr. (Lead) Business Solution Architect is responsible for developing the vision and leading project teams to design, develop and implement PJM's business solutions based on business requirements and technical strategy. This position will be responsible for providing architectural skills and experience in the areas of systems and storage vitalization, systems management and monitoring, vendor evaluation and prototyping, design pattern development and application and multi-site orchestration.
This position will be accountable for developing and maintaining business relationships with key strategic vendors and leverage and support the PJM information technology strategy. The Sr. (Lead) Business Solution Architect will anticipate problems and synthesize appropriate solutions, and provide the leadership necessary to effectively implement these initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize PJM and industry knowledge to lead and participate in design, development and implementation of systems and infrastructure to support a 24x7x365 operational platform

  • Provide architectural design, implementation, performance tuning, and ongoing support for a virtualized infrastructure, including servers and storage, in a large-scale, multi-site production environment

  • Design and implement design patterns related to application/integration and database synchronization and replication, with highly restrictive time to recover and data integrity requirements

  • Incorporate logical security principles into each area of design, including network security, service security and user management

  • Leverage the systems design to enable a phased implementation and a smooth transition from the legacy systems

  • Lead the installation, configuration and maintenance of server operating systems on virtual machines, blades and stand-alone systems

  • Serve as a technical consultant to other arms of the business in terms of vitalizing infrastructures, system replication, application/integration technology stack and overall system build

  • Participate in systems integration and testing, test coordination, and test plan development

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to meet business/technical requirements and recommend novel applications of existing technologies to improve quality and/or reduce costs

  • Maintain existing relationships with key strategic vendors and develop new business relationships with vendor personnel to build consensus and leverage the PJM business vision and strategy

  • Identify and analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigation activities. Ensure the timely identification, prioritization and resolution or escalation of issues. Communicate issues that put delivery of the project at risk, significantly increase cost, or threaten the success of other projects to the appropriate authority as soon as they are known

  • Manage technical roadmaps and technology life cycle management (TLCM) mappings for aligned business area

  • Conduct TLCM impact analysis and provide input to product backlogs

  • Develop and assist in the development of focused business plans and associated budgets

  • Apply innovative, creative solutions to challenging technological problems

  • Provide Solution architecture design support to the Salesforce product team


Characteristic & Qualifications:
Required:

  • BS degree Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • At least 5 years of work experience leadership/consulting experience

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail

  • Ability to visualize and solve complex problems

  • Experience managing projects

  • Ability to collaborate, influence, and partner with business units

  • Ability to develop strong relationships with multiple departments and divisions

  • Ability to lead an organization in trouble shooting and problem solving

  • Ability to select, organize, lead, participate in and facilitate a team to produce results

  • Experience leading projects and overseeing the work of other analysts

  • Experience in C#.NET development (including WPF, WCF, XAML and other frameworks) and usage of patterns including MVP and MVVM

  • Experience in network protocols, including detailed packet analysis, and intermediate understanding of firewalls, routers, IDS, and IPS


Preferred:
MS, Computer Science
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
