Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated intern to join our IT Division as an IT Document Automation Software Developer for the summer. Responsibilities include developing on-demand and batch company forms using Inspire and Documaker that include automated features. This position primarily involves visual development and automation of various forms including light scripting for advanced functionality. A technical, organized, and detail-oriented person would be a good fit for this role. Coding experience is preferred, but not required for the right candidate, so non-programming majors are encouraged to apply as well.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Students must be working toward a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least two years of coursework completed.

  • Customer service experience is a plus.

  • Experience with basic programming and scripting such as Java and Javascript, XML, document generation, PDF, Postscript, batch processing, etc. is a plus.

  • Enthusiasm for driving improvement by finding and implementing solutions to new challenges.

  • Must be able to learn and effectively use tools and techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the IT Division.

  • Ability to independently learn to use new software.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to team members and management.
