The Opportunities:
Lead AIA Australia’s SRE and DevOps functions, using modern platforms and emerging AI‑enabled capabilities to advance practices across Technology and the broader AIAA business. Responsible for the end‑to‑end management of the DevOps and SRE practice, including people leadership, operational oversight and capability development.
As a key member of the team, this role provides leadership, integration and oversight of the DevOps and SRE teams and services. It drives the culture, maturity and adoption of DevOps, SRE and responsible AI‑driven engineering practices across AIAA.
This role is for Melbourne or Syndey.
To do this successfully you will:
• Lead and optimise AIAA’s SRE and DevOps platforms, using modern engineering practices and emerging AI‑supported capabilities to improve automation and reliability.
• Ensure stability, availability and resilience across technology environments, using enhanced monitoring and AI‑enabled insights for early detection and response.
• Mentor and uplift teams in SRE and DevOps, promoting consistent practices, secure pipelines and a strong Continuous Improvement culture.
• Partner across Technology, Security, business teams, AIA Group and external vendors to drive adoption of SRE and DevOps and support successful delivery.
• Identify efficiency and cost‑reduction opportunities while meeting project, support and security performance measures.
Successful applications will demonstrate:
• Strong technical expertise with at least 10 years in technology and 3 to 5 years leading DevOps or SRE teams, including hands‑on experience with modern cloud platforms, DevSecOps toolsets, Dynatrace, monitoring, CI/CD and solution design.
• Proven capability in rolling out SRE and DevOps practices and platforms, with knowledge across Azure, AKS, GitHub, Jenkins, networking and key enterprise technologies such as Tomcat, WebSphere, AEM, API platforms and ServiceNow.
• Exposure to emerging AI‑supported engineering capabilities and an understanding of responsible AI, including how AI‑assisted insights, automation and safe AI adoption enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders at all levels, manage complex project plans and deliver outcomes within demanding timelines.
• Relevant qualifications including a degree in computer science or a related field, with DevOps, SRE and Azure certifications desirable, plus solid business acumen in Financial Services technology.
