Job Description

Job Overview:  

As the Lead Secondary Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the Linxon North America Engineering Team, overseeing and driving the Secondary engineering activities for projects and tenders. Operating in Raleigh, North Carolina, you will lead a skilled team dedicated to a diverse range of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation projects. This position demands a focus on project and tender engineering, managing interfaces, and defining the scope of work related to High Voltage (HV) Substations design within the Linxon Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) framework. Your leadership will contribute to fulfilling customer needs, meeting legislative demands, and upholding industry standards, all while ensuring project execution within allocated budgets and timelines.

Key Areas of Responsibility (KARs):

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead secondary engineering activities for large and complex Extra High Voltage/High Voltage Air & Gas Insulated Substation (AIS & GIS) projects.

Coordination and Interface Management:

  • Provide critical input for civil designs, ensuring seamless coordination between construction planning, protection and control systems, auxiliary power systems, LV and control cables, surveillance systems, and equipment suppliers.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, address site queries, and oversee actions up to the creation of as-built documentation.

Project Management:

  • Assume responsibility for the Engineering budget, schedule, forecasting, risk management, and change management activities.

Technical Solution Development:

  • Develop technical solutions for substations, including single-line diagrams for auxiliary power systems, dimensioning of auxiliary power systems, technical information, and detailed associated drawings.

Vendor Solution Evaluation:

  • Review and evaluate vendor solutions to ensure compliance with Linxon and customer requirements.

Technical Documentation and Support:

  • Provide technical calculations, purchasing specifications, and schedules for all equipment related to projects or tenders.

  • Prepare bill of quantities, cost estimations, deviations, and clarifications for technical solutions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Review Supplier's designs, participate in factory acceptance test plans, and attend both factory and site tests to uphold quality standards.

Tender and Project Support:

  • Offer continuous technical support to tender and project teams.
