Team Lead Project Engineer Controls

You will be part of the Lifecycle Performance Services (LPS) team. A versatile role in which you are responsible for a wide range of activities.

What are you going to do?

Responsible for leading a team and day-to-day operations, developing and implementing an operational plan and objectives for the assigned operational team, coordinates and motivates the team, stakeholders and reports on the progress of the team in line with the department plan, so that the team is able to achieve (team) objectives.

Giving guidance and direction to teams/groups by creating the right preconditions and by promoting cooperation, commitment and team spirit.

As a Team lead Project Engineer Controls, you will be part of a team of 15 colleagues. You will be responsible for the development, cost estimation, engineering, and implementation of maintenance and modification projects. You will lead projects from both a technical and organizational perspective—starting from the sales phase through to the realization phase at the customer’s site. Depending on the scope, you may also be responsible for the commissioning of control systems.

The team currently consists of colleagues with experience in control engineering, commissioning, mechanical engineering, project and maintenance management. It’s a diverse team, all working together with the same positive drive to make FORTNA better every day and to support all stakeholders as effectively as possible.

Your main tasks include:

  • Policies and processes

Contributes to the development and implementation of the individual/team/departmental policy in line with the vision and mission of the organization.

Oversees team processes, initiates, coordinates and collaborates on (improvement) proposals within their own focus to and ensures optimization and alignment with the department goals.

  • Coordination

Coordinates the overall (project, resource) planning into an operational planning for their own team within given scope and guidelines in cooperation with stakeholders to enable and steer on the achievement of team objectives and managing of the workload.

Focuses on activities and results of the individual, team, related projects, processes and systems and adjusts where necessary to ensure proper functioning of the team and the team members.

Monitors the performance of the team, quality of the work and team cooperation and act as a link between the different teams / departments to align the team with the organization/business unit.

Cooperates with the team and performs operational and tactical work, to oversee the achievement of team objectives on time, within budget and the first time right.

Attract, lead, coach, appraise, take corrective measures when required and develop employees, ensure staffing, workforce planning and stimulate talent(management).

  • Reporting

Produces key figures and draws up reports and schedules to respond to future internal and external needs and to create insight into the progress and details within the own focus area.

Reports on key figures of own team and team members and acts on discrepancies or conspicuous abnormalities in these figures to enable productivity enhancing practices that are also beneficial to a healthy

and safe working area.

What else do you need for this role?

You preferably have proven experience in industrial automation, electrical engineering, or software engineering, supported by a bachelor’s degree (HBO) or similar. Your profile is further strengthened by broad technical knowledge and interest.

We also value:

  • Several years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in Material Handling Systems
  • The ability to read and understand technical documentation (drawings, schematics, specifications)
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English (German is a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of SIMATIC WinCC, SIMATIC STEP 7, and/or TIA Portal
  • Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks in parallel
  • Willingness to independently engineer PLC software modifications (depending on experience)
  • Willingness to travel regularly (approx. 15% of the time)
