S&P Ratings Security team focuses on protecting our clients and users from all aspects of modern-day security threats. The mission of our team is to safeguard systems and data by developing innovative solutions for the biggest security challenges. We are looking for a Principal security engineer responsible for development and implementation of security architecture and engineering best practices across S&P Ratings technology platforms. The role provides Security engineering and Security Architecture consultation to build and enhance security in S&P Ratings Infrastructure and Services including IAM applications.
Responsibilities and Impact:
This position will work across software development, QA, SRE and Operations teams to identify component and system level technical risks, identify and evaluate critical failure points, determine technical security controls to mitigate risks, prioritize and schedule controls with application development timelines, and work with cross functional teams to implement remediations.
This position is a senior technical role and will drive the IAM and Infrastructure security including Microsoft Active Directory and PKI security architecture, provide leadership to mature the security engineering program, develop security tooling, mentor others and be hands-on partner to our software, SRE and QA teams to deliver innovative and secure solutions.
A successful candidate for this position will be a technical leader to:
Lead the security architecture for S&P Global Ratings Microsoft Active Directory, Enterprise PKI and LDAP infrastructure
Responsible for recommending IAM and infrastructure security requirements for access control, including access administration, directory services
Provide expertise and consulting in SAML, SCIM, OAuth, or other integration APIs for IAM technologies, along with RBAC, PBAC, SOD, or risk-based access controls
Leverage and develop security integrations for solutions such as Sailpoint, OKTA, Azure AD, CyberArk
Collaborate with partner teams to develop cloud security standards and verify controls are implemented to standard
Provides architectural guidance and leadership on best practices regarding security in software development, user interface design frameworks, high performance messaging solutions, server side development, integrations and tools and technologies
Drives and guides the specification and realization of security architecture, with decisions driven by a clear focus on security risks facing the intended business based on customer or market requirements
Risk analysis, risk management, and communication of results with software/hardware development managers
Develop architecture, testing and auditing of IAM infrastructure, Cloud computing, and GenAI/LLM platforms
Act as a Subject Matter Expert in the discovery and investigation of critical security vulnerabilities
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $170,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in IAM services, security engineering, DevOps, IT-security and/or technical risk management
Strong knowledge/expertise in implementing identity, access and directory solutions such as Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP.
You have experience assessing security posture of cloud resources
You have experience using infrastructure-as-code tools, (e.g., Terraform), and modern development and deployment workflows (Containerization technology, Container orchestration systems, CI/CD platforms)
You possess strong security fundamentals and have solid threat modeling and security architecture skills
Deep understanding of Internet technologies, DNS, TCP/IP networks (protocols, ports etc.) is required
Develops technical standards, testing, log analysis and vulnerability assessments; evaluating and recommending on procedures used to mitigate risks for Cloud platforms
Experience with cloud security analysis and design techniques
Experience with secrets/credential management systems, (e.g., Vault, CyberArk)
Advanced knowledge in security best practices, principles, and common security frameworks such as OWASP, NIST and ISO
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines/tools (e.g. ADO GIT, ADO pipelines, Boards, Build & Package tools)
Experience with or an understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols and concepts, (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WebAuthn/FIDO2, Zero Trust)
Experience with applied cryptography
Deep understanding of OSI layer, TCP/IP networks (protocols, ports, etc.,)
Experience with engineering logging & monitoring solutions with tools like Splunk
Experience with Agile methodology is desired
Experience with WAF, DDoS and other attack mitigation solutions
Knowledge of the following development practices and concepts - Lean principles, including Shift left, DevSecOps, CloudOps, continuous delivery
Experience working with various Database systems (e.g., Oracle, Postgres)
