What you will do

The Focus Factory Manager manages the operations of a manufacturing line or department and is responsible for ensuring that the assigned production area is operated in the most profitable and efficient basis and with the correct level of quality. Duties will include directly supervising Production Supervisors, maintaining the safety of the area, scheduling assignments, line balancing, evaluation and control of build, monitoring of fulfillment of customer production and quality requirements, control of scrap and rework, efficiency, application of overtime as well as documentation of these activities and acting as the primary contact for in-house departments for production related issues in assigned area.

How you will do it

  • Direct Production Supervisors in the plant and coordinate production work through familiarity with all manufacturing processes. Maintain a continual awareness of safety, quality, efficiency, scrap and production schedules.

  • Motivate and direct the training of Production Supervisors. Train and develop individuals, instill in them a sense of responsibility and evaluate them on their progress.

  • Analyze and determine staffing requirements. Study daily operating results, meet daily with subordinates and consult with Supervisors on solutions to production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Maintain cooperation between departments.

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing team members. Inform employees of deficiencies and violations and take corrective action, if necessary, to ensure that procedures and practices are being followed. Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance on the plant floor. Provide Safety training on a continuous basis.

  • Ensure correct distribution of staff and assist with training for all new or transferred employees. Coordinate temporary staff requirements.

  • Work with leadership and CI/Mfg. Engineering to develop a roadmap for Continuous Improvement in the assigned area for processes and productivity.

  • Drive the JCMS - Johnson Controls Manufacturing System - throughout the plant, implements and sustains this culture with continuous training and development of hourly production personnel in the manufacturing principles and governing behaviors.

  • Support and lead 5S activities throughout the manufacturing facility to continuously improve the 5S Score.

  • Lead Kaizen Events and perform Lean training for the production personnel in the assigned area.

  • Drive formal problem solving methods in the production floor with production employees to drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality, control scrap and rework and provide quality products to the customer.

  • Monitor financial reporting and drive improvements based on KPI goals.

  • Support the High Performance Teams of the assigned area.

  • Authorize and evaluate the overtime requirement for Production employees.

  • Assist in mediation of employee issues and conduct disciplinary action when required.

  • Monitor customer production requirements and coordinate schedule adjustments when required.

  • Monitor and ensure documentation of employee attendance records.

  • Perform other duties as required.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience working as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment OR an Associate degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience working as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work 1st shift (8:00AM – 5:30PM, Monday-Friday) as well as overtime and off-shifts as needed to support three shifts.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement.

  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement certification.
