As a Manager of Mill Relations – Matting, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the relationship between the company and its suppliers of matting materials for industrial operations. This involves negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality matting products. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement cost-saving measures, improve operational efficiency, and maintain a strong supplier network. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
What you’ll do:
Solicit and analyze quotes from material vendors, ensuring pricing and availability meet company standards.
Provide feedback to vendors regarding their pricing in comparison to market trends and competitor benchmarks.
Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors to enhance cooperation and reliability.
Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
Performance Analysis: Track and analyze vendor quote turnaround times, providing insights to the procurement team for improved operational efficiency.
Monitor and report on vendor performance metrics, including quality, pricing consistency, and service levels.
On-Site Engagement: Travel occasionally to vendor locations to strengthen relationships, perform inventory counts, and conduct quality assurance/quality control checks.
Assess vendor facilities to ensure compliance with company quality standards and inventory accuracy.
Strategic Contribution: Collaborate with the procurement team to develop strategies for cost reduction, improved quality, and enhanced vendor performance.
Stay informed about market trends to identify opportunities for negotiation and sourcing optimization.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in procurement, vendor management, or a related role
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tracking and interpreting procurement metrics
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Familiarity with quality assurance/quality control processes is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft excel or other data analysis tools
Ability to travel occasionally to vendor locations
