About the Team

The Workday Product Developer Academy empowers Workday's engineering community to build innovative software and applications by providing expert training on our market-leading development platform. We go beyond traditional instruction, pioneering cutting-edge learning approaches to cultivate a deep understanding of Workday's technology. Our team is passionate about fostering growth and development within the organization, and we're looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer/Technical Trainer to join us in this mission.

About the Role

As a Technical Trainer in the Workday Product Developer Academy, you'll play a key role in empowering Workday's engineering community. You'll design and deliver engaging technical training programs that equip our developers with the skills they need to build innovative applications using Workday's proprietary object-oriented programming language.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Design and deliver impactful training: Lead in-person and virtual classes, workshops, and labs that cover a range of technical topics.

  • Develop cutting-edge learning materials: Create applications, exercises, and resources that enhance the learning experience and reinforce key concepts.

  • Stay ahead of the curve: Continuously learn new functionality and features within Workday's development platform and incorporate them into your training programs.

  • Shape the future of Workday development: Contribute to the evolution of our training programs by analyzing learner data and feedback to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Technically proficient: Possesses a strong foundation in programming techniques, object-oriented languages, object modeling, and application design.

  • Passionate about teaching: Excels at communicating complex technical concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.

  • Driven by quality: Committed to delivering exceptional learning experiences and continuously improving the quality of training materials and programs.

  • Data-driven: Able to leverage data and insights to measure the impact of training programs and make data-informed decisions.

About You

You're a passionate and driven technical trainer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You're not only a coding expert but also an exceptional communicator who can break down complex concepts for a diverse audience. You're data-driven and results-oriented, always seeking ways to measure the impact of your work and improve the learning experience. You enjoy building relationships and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas. You're adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, able to navigate evolving priorities and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm.

Key Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or other engineering degree

  • 7+ years of object-oriented programming experience

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and delivering training to a large technical audience

  • Learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training

  • Lead discussions and actively influence development of new strategies to improve course offerings

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology

  • Passion for learning, teaching, and mastering sophisticated system functionality

  • Have the drive to independently lead projects and execute with emphasis on quality

  • Ability to travel to other Workday locations for training

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
