Your Impact and Contribution

As a Principal Platform Engineer, you’ll influence engineering best practices and lead strategic initiatives across our Database and DevSecOps platforms, championing resilience, automation, and secure design.

You’ll lead the design, implementation, and support of PostgreSQL environments across private and public cloud (AWS), embedding security and automation into every layer of our infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with a highly skilled team of engineers in a solution-focused environment that values innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence. To achieve this, you may expect to:

• Architect and maintain robust PostgreSQL environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Develop and deploy infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions to automate operational tasks and improve platform reliability.
• Champion DevSecOps practices, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and platform operations.
• Deploy and manage monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, CloudWatch) to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
• Embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to drive platform resilience and performance, while influencing engineering best practices across squads.
• Leverage AI-powered engineering tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, automated code reviews, anomaly detection) to accelerate development and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain high-quality documentation to support knowledge sharing and operational consistency.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, continuously improving platform architecture and engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Key Skills & Experience

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL database engineering, including performance tuning, replication, backup/recovery, and security.
• Proven experience managing cloud environments (AWS, VMware, Converged Infrastructure).
• Demonstrated ability to embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles into platform operations, while influencing engineering best practices across teams.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Splunk, and CloudWatch.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies, networks, virtualisation, and containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker).
• Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash, Go, SQL, PL/pgSQL).
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and practices (e.g. GitHub Copilot, automated testing, intelligent alerting).
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
