The Manager will lead a team of engineers including data engineers to create lab data platform / solutions to provide best in class experience for our internal engineers. Operate as a thought leader and visionary, with the ability to guide/architect/deliver lab data platform and influence across data science/engineering and analytical functions. This position will work with data engineers to build a platform to effectively support internal analytical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the development of individual BI application and platform strategies and roadmaps. Develops and maintain relationships with BI and data management partners and suppliers. Leads assessment of vendor products, roadmaps and next generation technologies and recommends additions/changes to Applied's enterprise architectural strategy and capability roadmaps.
- Manages personnel providing BI, Big Data and AI/ML application and platform support services to meet customer performance, availability, service level agreemens and customer satisfaction targets. Ovresees monitoring of specific IT systems or set of systems and tuning of such systems for availability and performance. Drives completion of root cause analysis and resolution of outages or incident trends coordinating with infrastructure and technical teams, support providers and application vendors. Drives implemention of corrective and preventative actions. Evaluates/recommends/plans lifecycle for patches, point releases, and major upgrades.
- Plan and manage large scale, complex Business Intelligence, Big Data or AI/ML aplication or platform projects to ensure effective and efficient execution in line with guardrails of scope, timeline, budget and quality. Manages project managers.
- Oversees/manages contingent workers performing Business Intelligence, Big Data and AI/ML services across projects and/or service areas. Responsible for the selection, onboarding and offboarding of contingent workers in a timely manner. Manges contingent worker project/task assignments and ensure work product quality. Approves contingent worker timesheets/costs.
- Architect and Develop: Create integrated data applications from the ground up using a modern technology stack.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work directly with business owners and end-users to develop data solutions in a highly collaborative and agile environment.
- Mentor Team Members: Help grow and mentor team members on software engineering best practices, data quality, and product evaluation.
- Lead Development Teams: Oversee development teams focused on learning analytics, predictive and recommendation engines, and adaptive curriculum capabilities.
- Technical Solutions and Architecture: Participate in defining technical solutions, architecture improvements, technical reviews, and code reviews.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cooperatively with development teams, infrastructure and domain teams to ensure successful, well-communicated, high-quality releases.
- Team Effectiveness and Growth: Develop, mentor, and coach development teams to build a strong development team, increase team effectiveness, and promote individual team members’ growth.
- Operational Metrics: Collect operational metrics on team effectiveness.
- Performance Reviews: Conduct performance reviews aligned with corporate policies and timelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience with 3+ years leadership experience, including experience leading data engineering and data analytics.
- Track record of successfully recruiting, developing and retaining top talent from leading organizations.
- Hands on experience using different storage services on Azure for storing data, like ADLS, Delta tables, Hive
- Good understanding of Delta lake and how it can be used in conjunction with ADLS and other storage
- Expertise using Pyspark and Spark SQL for processing data for various use casesStrong background and hands-on experience with software development in complex production-quality software in python and Java
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Comfortable with CI/CD Pipelines
- Experience with Git version control, and other software adjacent tools
- Comprehensive knowledge of data platform architecture, data modeling, database optimization, data management practices and processes.
- Strong understanding of agile software development principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.

U.S. Salary Range:
$204,000.00 - $280,500.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
