Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital is seeking a full time Hospitalist to join their team of ten providers (5 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers) providing exceptional care for the hospitalized individuals and families in Allegan & Ottawa Counties.   Since 1921, Zeeland Hospital has delivered care that’s advanced, yet makes patients feel at home.

This physician will work 3p to 11p variable days between Sunday and Thursday; for a total of 182 shifts per year. Physician will help with afternoon and evening admissions, help cover ICU patients, and provide telehealth to one other hospital as available. Zeeland Hospitalists work days only with a staffing model of two physicians and one APP caring for an average total census of 26 to 28 to include up to 6 ICU beds.  Nights are covered by a virtual nocturnist and an on-site APP.  Some procedures and manage vents required; tele-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

    Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days preferred Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days preferred
