Position Summary:           

Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, coverage determination, negotiation, and settlement of non-complex property contents claims. Ensures claims are handled within best practices and estimating guidelines. Coordinates with SIU, Subrogation and outside vendors as required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Property claims handling including initial coverage review and contact of all parties involved.
  • Establish a method of inspection consistent with the loss facts and maintain accurate loss reserves.
  • Engage vendors and experts as needed to support a thorough investigation.
  • Maintain file documentation commensurate with best practices.
  • Complete a timely coverage investigation supported by the facts and all policy provisions, endorsements and state statues when applicable.
  • Notify all parties of any coverage issues or limitations via a reservation of rights if applicable.
  • Complete a damage evaluation consistent with the estimating guidelines via virtual estimating, use of independent adjusters or alterative vendor involvement.
  • Obtain adequate authority from next level management when required.
  • Negotiate loss settlements with all relevant parties in a timely manner.
  • Communicate coverages, policy provisions and limitations impacting settlements.
  • Review and issue partial or full disclaimers when appropriate.
  • Ensure all reserving aspects are maintained in compliance with best reserving practices.


Position Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent is required
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed to support CAT response.
  • Completion of adjuster trainee period
  • Demonstrates effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.   
  • Telephone soft-skills necessary.
  • Proficiency in developing damage scope and producing contents repair/replacement estimates within a virtual environment.
  • This position requires a high level of verbal communication and involves extensive communication over the phone
