Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Director Wealth Management Operations to join our team. Here at Mechanics Bank, we value connection, partnership, long term relationships and working together in person. This role will be working on-site at Walnut Creek office.

The Director of Wealth Management Operations is responsible for management and oversight of all Wealth Management operational activities, including trust, investment management, employee benefits trust and private banking. Responsible for managing vendor relationships for trust account system, statement preparation, tax reporting, trading activity and all other vendors who provides services to Wealth Management. Manages preparation or oversees the timely and accurate preparation of all regulatory reporting for trust department and trust entities, including call reports, state and federal filings. Responsible for developing, implementing and managing on an ongoing basis operational support for the Delaware trust company. Manages, directs, and develops subordinate staff.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for managing vendor relationships for trust account system, statement preparation, tax reporting, trading activity and all other vendors who provides services to Wealth Management. Coordinate with Tax Manager to ensure operational and systems support for the timely and accurate generation of tax ledgers, 1099s, 1098s and other system generated required tax filing
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and managing on an ongoing basis operational support for the outside RIA strategy, including policies, procedures, technology solutions, and coordination with RIAs
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and managing on an ongoing basis operational support for the Delaware trust company, including operational policies, procedures, technology solutions, as well as coordination with RIAs on Delaware directed trust accounts
  • Responsible for Wealth Management Business Continuity Plan development, revision and execution, including participation in all disaster recovery testing
  • Responsible for contributing to the RCSA program for Wealth Management, in coordination with executive management, Wealth Management senior managers and the quality assurance testing team
  • Responsible for developing and administering a cross-training program for all operational personnel, to ensure proper coverage and back-up in all areas. Makes decisions regarding hiring, disciplinary action, and separation. Evaluates performance, and recommends salary actions and promotions

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in Wealth Management required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in operational support of broad Wealth Management offering, including working with outside RIAs and operational support of separate entities.
  • Experience leading implementation of new trust accounting system
  • Skilled in best practices for managing risk in multifaceted Wealth Management environment
  • Thorough knowledge of securities and security trading.
  • Thorough knowledge of Trust requirements including account and asset transfer policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of securities tax reporting requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent leadership ability to direct and motivate subordinate staff.
  • Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational ability.

Pay Range: $200,000 - $275,000 annually

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
