Job Description

Role Purpose

The Shaving business is a foundational pillar of Philips, deeply rooted in the company’s history, legacy, and tradition of innovation. The Category Business Leader (BCL) – Shaving is fully accountable for the end-to-end value creation and commercial success of the Shaving category within Grooming & Beauty. This role owns category strategy, P&L performance, innovation excellence, portfolio and pricing strategy, and the total consumer and shopper experience across regions and channels.

A defining dimension of the role is leadership of China Innovation, leveraging China as a core engine for global innovation, scaling locally developed platforms and propositions worldwide to drive material category growth and competitiveness.

Scope & Accountability

The BCL – Shaving holds full accountability for category performance from Sales to iGM, including:

  • Category P&L ownership
  • A&P effectiveness and efficiency
  • Innovation and design investment allocation
  • Strategic pricing and line-chart architecture
  • Integrated marketing toolkits and activation frameworks
  • Shaving brand strategy and total category consumer experience

The role ensures embedded consumer and shopper insights translate into commercially impactful decisions across regions and channels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Category Transformation

  • Redefine and elevate the Shaving roadmap to position the category as the spearhead of the portfolio.
  • Lead footprint and capability transformation into the new AI era while delivering on core consumer promises.
  • Drive breakthrough impact and structural value creation beyond standard KPI delivery.

2. Category Strategy & Value Creation

  • Define where-to-play and how-to-win choices aligned with Grooming & Beauty priorities.
  • Drive value creation through consumer-led innovation, portfolio design, pricing architecture, and activation strategy.
  • Ensure strategic clarity and execution excellence across markets.

3. P&L Ownership & Performance Management

  • Own full category P&L, including AOP and SPOR delivery.
  • Lead performance management cadence with clear KPI dashboards and governance.
  • Optimize gross margin, mix, and cost efficiency across the portfolio.

4. Innovation Leadership

  • Define and execute the global innovation strategy and multi-year roadmap.
  • Establish PIC Shenzhen as a mandatory pillar of the innovation ecosystem.
  • Scale China-developed propositions and platforms globally.
  • Ensure strong NPI performance management and disciplined portfolio renewal.

5. Portfolio, Brand & Activation

  • Own portfolio strategy including:
    • Zero-Based Approach (ZBA)
    • SKU efficiency and complexity reduction
    • Category positioning and propositions
    • Integrated communication toolkits
    • Go-to-market (GTM) guidelines
  • Drive excellence in launch execution and global consistency with local relevance.

6. Consumer & Shopper Insights

  • Lead consumer and shopper insight frameworks including segmentation and Jobs-to-Be-Done.
  • Embed insight-led decision-making across innovation, pricing, and activation.
  • Strengthen data-driven capability and analytics maturity.

7. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as integrator across Business, Regions, and Functions.
  • Lead governance, performance reviews, and capability building.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and align global and regional priorities in a complex matrix environment.

Required Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Innovation, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of international leadership experience in consumer products.
  • Proven track record of launching NPIs in mature markets and scaling in growth markets.
  • Demonstrated P&L category management experience (> €500M).
  • Mandatory hands-on experience leading China-based innovation platforms and strong China market exposure.
  • Experience in the shaving business within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Experience leading large teams with direct reports and building high-performing organizations.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time.
