About the Role
The Associated Nurse Unit Manager, under direction from the Nurse Unit Manager or the After-Hours Coordinator, will manage clinical and professional resources and provide senior leadership to the nursing team. This position is a senior nursing leadership position that includes an allocated clinical caseload each shift.

Classification for this role will be YW11 ($106,834 per annum pro rata)

  • Provide clinical leadership, practical support, mentoring and development of the nursing workforce.
  • Effective communication with SVCHS staff, Correctional staff, Port Phillip Prison sub-contracted services and external health services.
  • Adhere to all aspects of confidentiality in regard to patients, staff and PPP personnel healthcare intervention and subsequent documentation.
  • Lead and contribute to the planning and development of SVCHS and actively participate in team-based quality and service improvement activities.
  • Report and escalate issues to the Nurse Unit Manager, After Hours Coordinator, On-Call Medical Officer and/or the SVCHS nursing management team.
  • Be aware of and abide by policies and procedures required of Justice Health, SVHM, SVCHS, G4S and Corrections Victoria.


Your Contribution

  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in general nursing with current APHRA nursing registration.
  • Substantial skills, knowledge and experience in the acute, sub-acute, and/or primary health care settings as a Registered Nurse with at least 5 years acute experience.
  • Ability to lead others, develop strong working relationships with the nursing workforce and act as a role model
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and manage change  Ability to be self-directed, motivated to perform and to foster teamwork
  • Commitment to providing high quality health services using a person-centred approach to care

About SVCHS/ST THOMAS
St Vincent's Correctional Health Services (SVCHS) provide primary health, primary mental health and subacute health care services to Port Phillip Prison. The prison is a privately-operated maximum-security prison that caters for 937 males. SVCHS operates a large outpatient health service (St Thomas’s) and provides on-site subacute healthcare for up to 40 inpatients of the St John’s unit. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will work across SVCHS services including St John’s subacute inpatient unit and St Thomas’s Outpatient Services as rostered and/or requested by the SVCHS Nursing Management team.
