Overview:

Provide support to Relationship Managers, Workout Officers, Collection Specialists and Legal Liaisons.  Research, gather, prepare and validate appropriate documentation associated with the workout strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Workout and Collections – facilitate work between the two groups.
  • Upload new assignments to system of record, insuring all customer data and files are in place. Generate system maintenance requests in preparation for file hand-off/assignment.
  • Coordinate the disposition of completed files based on department reporting. Scan and warehouse appropriately.
  • Authorize or decline transactions through the overdraft process; prepare a management report to identify patterns of overdraft activity.
  • Prepare payments received and/or deposit account offsets.
  • Prepare check requests, demand letters, appraisal orders and bankruptcy proof of claims.
  • Research, gather, prepare and validate appropriate documentation associated with the Workout strategy for legal and repossession referrals.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Small Business Association default package, preparing payment histories, obtaining required documentation and providing ongoing research support throughout the claim process.
  • Research the remediation cases as required for BSA/AML; update documentation in appropriate system.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Interact with all levels of personnel across business lines (CAM Collections, Workout, Legal, and Recovery), BB Product, Regional Management, SBA, and CAM management staff.

Work under general supervision.

Work guided by bank rules and procedures or external regulations.

Education and Experience Required:

A combined minimum of 2 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year customer service, customer facing or collections experience.

Proficient personal computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software.

Detail oriented.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree.

Banking or financial industry experience.

Knowledge of M&T Bank systems.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.11 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
