Across our portfolio of live event venues and corporate offices, we are seeking an Accounting Clerk the Broward County Convention Center. The Accounting Clerk assists in the day-to-day operations of the Finance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining financial records.
  • Run financial reports from accounting system.
  • Perform various financial transaction tasks in Excel.
  • Maintain accounting and event files. Maintain Reconciliation templates for multiple GL accounts.
  • Assist Senior accountants with payroll and maintain filing system.
  • Checking for accuracy of figures and data on worksheet.
  • Update daily AR reports.
  • Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and checks, confirming business transactions.
  • Maintain all Finance files; respond to inquiries and research discrepancies.
  • Assist in inputting accounting information into the accounting system as instructed.
  • Send outgoing correspondences and ensure incoming mail is distributed to appropriate Finance team member. Assist Finance staff with administrative duties as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience          

< >Associate degree Accounting or similar field Two(2) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

Skills and Abilities  

  • Understand and apply standard accounting principles, financial control procedures, computerized accounting systems/software, and financial management preferred.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results.
  • Detail oriented and a self-starter
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal with internal and external people on all levels.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Experience on an accounting software package is preferred.
  • Solomon and File Maker Pro is a plus.
