As a member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability of Yahoo’s products and infrastructure alongside other DevOps teams. We operate services at a scale covering our entire software, system, and network footprint across our data centers and multiple cloud service providers. We encourage new ideas, and continuously experiment and evaluate new technologies. Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support production systems and their associated infrastructure and tools.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand the product and technical roadmap and manage impact to the operability of systems.
  • Provide in-depth and timely solutions to complex technical issues, related to both site-up issues and product improvements.
  • Maintain and improve the availability, performance, scalability and efficiency of the services by implementing monitoring, automation, redundancy, capacity and business-continuity planning.
A Lot About You
  • B.E./B.tech in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 6+ years of industry experience, preferably at large scale
  • Prior experience supporting 24x7, highly-available, systems
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in incident, change, and problem management activities.
  • Solid understanding of best practices around operations, software development, release engineering & continuous delivery.
  • Experience working in an Unix operating system environment
  • Ability to write fully functional scripts using Python/Golang/Ruby/Perl
  • Expertise administering, supporting, debugging and tuning systems and technologies
  • Experience working with AWS or GCP cloud concepts and basic architecture best practices.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and container-based orchestration.
  • Familiarity with IaC Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Chef, Terraform)
  • Relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) administration and usage
  • Running Infrastructure Automation Tools at scale (Git, Airflow, Jenkins, Screwdriver)
  • Red Hat/CentOS & Linux operating system internals
  • Information security best practices: trust management, certificates
  • TCP/IP networking & load-balancer
  • Prior experience working in a production serving environment
