Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Student Success Coordinator for Scholarship Initiatives. The position reports to the Director of Student Retention and Completion, works closely with Student Success Coordinator for Transition Initiatives, and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing various aspects related to student success scholarships. This job requires being on campus in person.
Responsibilities: The Student Success Coordinator for Scholarship Initiatives will coordinate and oversee various aspects related to student success scholarships. Key programs include the Geiman Scholars Program, the Reisher Scholars Program, and the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative. This position coordinates marketing, recruitment, and selection of scholars in the various programs, working with the Financial Aid Office to ensure scholarships are awarded correctly and scholars understand their financial aid packages. The coordinator collects and analyzes data to evaluate scholar progress and identify areas for improvement in each program. They assist with budget planning, monitor expenses, and ensure compliance with financial guidelines. Additionally, they research and implement DEIJ+ best practices and align scholarship initiatives with the Division of Student Affairs curricular model to support student learning and development. Finally, the coordinator oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of up to 8 Geiman Mentors responsible for providing pre-collegiate mentoring to high school students.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate Degree (e.g., M.A., Ed.D., Ph.D.) in psychology, sociology, social work, student affairs, higher education, ethnic studies, or cultural studies, have multi-lingual (e.g., Spanish), interpretation and translation abilities, and have student success programming experience.
Compensation: $21.63 - $22.60 an hour ($45,000 - $47,000 annual equivalent) FLSA non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
