We are currently looking to hire a Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join our team at Animal Clinic of Woodland Park in Woodland Park, Colorado. 

  • Salary: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.
  • Schedule: 4/10-hour shifts, some Saturday coverage required.
  • Location: 801 US-24, Woodland Park, CO 80863


Who You Are:

The purpose of the Laboratory Technician is to improve the quality patient care by assisting veterinarians and technicians with the flow of admitted and discharged patients. The Lab Technician focuses attention on the laboratory and pharmacy area, while monitoring hospitalized pets, maintaining inventory, preparing prescriptions, and performing routine, in-house lab work. The Lab Technician educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures.

  • 3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant with increasing responsibility is required
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretations
  • Accurately perform routine, in-house laboratory procedures
  • Correctly prepare specimens for outside laboratory and obtain results via email or fax
  • Monitors lab supplies and orders additional lab supplies as needed
  • Ability to obtain routine lab samples via venipuncture or cystocentesis required
  • Skilled in IV Catheter placement and urinary catheter placement preferred
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • Support other departments including surgical assistance, pharmacy, and hospitalized patient care
