Dow Chemical Thailand Co., Ltd. has an opening for the position of Technical Service and Development Specialist, located in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The candidate will be responsible for Polyurethane foam applications including both technical service & application development in Southeast Asia markets.

For the market-focused technical role, the activities will cover the identification and execution of customer opportunities by collaborating with the commercial and marketing organization; interfacing with the regional and global TS&D for development work; adherence to manufacturing and product stewardship for new product scale-ups; development and/or the introduction of solutions at targeted customers for product qualification and commercialization. The incumbent will work closely with their sales, marketing, and technical peers in the Asia pacific and globally.

                                                                     

The detailed job description includes:

  • Collaborate closely with the regional PU Sales team to identify the growth opportunities. 
  • Provide product recommendations, formulation fine-tuning for existing products relating to customer needs, and on-site trial support for identified customer opportunities.
  • Troubleshooting support for customer quality complaints by working with the sales, production, supply chain and quality organization. Continually define and reduce costs associated with product performance and quality.
  • Generate high-quality technical reports for development projects and write customer call reports.  Conduct technical symposiums for industry meetings and at the customer sites, and to prepare technical literature/publications.
  • Seamless teamwork and effective communication with sales, marketing, commercial leadership, TS&D peers, production, product stewardship, and other R&D colleagues.

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer Science/Material Science/Chemical Engineering or related fields.
  • The new graduate is welcome.
  • Possess 1-2 years’ experience in PU foam applications/markets or in the Chemical industry.
  • Good knowledge of chemistry, thermoplastic, and thermosetting polymers.
  • Excellent in the communication of written and spoken in both English and Chinese is preferable. 
  • Quick learner for the new applications and technologies.
  • Possess strong presentation, analytical skills, and project management skills.
  • Customer focused, self-motivated, and profit/cost-conscious.
  • Able to base in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. Frequent traveling in the territory & Southeast Asia (25-50% of the time).
