The opportunity: 

We are currently sourcing a Senior People Advisor to join our People and Culture team based in Melbourne on a 12-month basis. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Employee Relations and People Partnering, the successful incumbent will be responsible for providing generalist advice, coaching and guiding our People Leaders and employees on a variety of people matters and ensuring that our HR service level agreements are achieved.

Within this role you will play a key role in the delivery of best practice HR service. You will work closely with a designated People Partner on business unit specific initiatives and be involved in identifying efficiencies and operational improvements across the workforce.

To do this successfully you will: 

  • Work together with your dedicated People Partner by providing support to your allocated client groups on all people matters including the coordination and execution of HR cyclical activities
  • Partner with Centres of Excellence to deliver an integrated best in class HR service
  • Monitor and manage queries from People Leaders and employees by adhering to our team response times and performance to SLA’s
  • Be responsible for problem solving individual case matters that can sometimes be complex in nature
  • Provide expert HR support and advice to people leaders and provide guidance on difficult conversations and decision making
  • Facilitate training workshops and enterprise inductions
  • Provide support to people leaders on all performance management and performance improvement plans for employees, in line with disciplinary procedures and legislative requirements
  • Support workforce planning, restructures and organisational change initiatives
  • Manage individual grievances and lead investigations as required
  • Conduct job gradings and collaborate with People Leaders to ensure role evaluations are accurate
  • Manage system changes (such as job and data changes) in Workday in a timely and accurate manner
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts on specified projects or processes
  • Act as a custodian of AIA’s culture and our operating philosophy of ‘Doing the Right Thing, in the Right Way, with the Right People’.

Successful applications will demonstrate: 

  • Previous experience in a similar role in HR service delivery
  • Experience using Workday HRIS will be highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or similar
  • The ability to partner with People Leaders across the organisation to provide support, coaching and advice
  • An excellent understanding of generalist HR principles and practices with the confidence to make recommendations and improvements and implement them effectively
  • Experience supporting leaders with performance management, organisational design and position management
  • The ability to create knowledge articles, FAQs and HR processes
  • A results-oriented, service-driven mindset and a willingness to get hands-on when needed.
