About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.

It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.

We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.

Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better.

We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e-beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way.

Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.

About the role

The Production Coordinator owns production readiness across active tool builds and fab development projects. As we scale our build capacity, this role brings focus and structure to production coordination. You’ll have clear ownership of the sequencing, staging, and material flow that keeps builds moving.

You sit between engineering and production, making sure technicians and engineers have the parts, materials, and schedule visibility they need to keep moving. That means coordinating across multiple tool families, an in-house machine shop, an SMT line, and manufacturing execution systems that are still being stood up.

Responsibilities

  • Own the daily priority stack across tool assembly, CNC machining, SMT, and system integration builds. Make sequencing calls, surface tradeoffs early, and escalate when builds compete for shared resources or personnel.

  • Stage kits to completion ahead of scheduled starts. Confirm readiness with the assigned technician and in our MES system. When a kit is short, have the why, the when, and a ready alternative.

  • Route materials, components, and tooling through our in-house production network. Manage queue priority across work centers as we bring more capability in-house.

  • Track active builds and production runs against plan. Know what's on schedule, what's slipping, and why before the technician or engineer has to tell you.

  • Keep scheduling and resource planning tools accurate and current. Build reporting that gives engineering and leadership clear visibility into production state without requiring a meeting.

  • Identify and close recurring coordination gaps: missing handoffs, unclear ownership, repeated shortages. Build the workflows and habits that prevent the same problem from needing to be solved twice.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years in production coordination, materials management, or manufacturing operations in a hardware environment.

  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory workflows.

  • Hands-on inventory experience: receiving, inspection, kitting, issuing.

  • Clear communicator. Can describe a problem, its impact, and a proposed fix in writing or in person.

Nice-to-have

  • Professional experience being the single point of coordination for concurrent hardware builds with shifting priorities.

  • High-mix, low-volume, or prototype manufacturing background.

  • Experience standing up or heavily improving production coordination processes.
