.Individuals employed by Amynta Surety Solutions who hold this position are responsible for successfully executing their responsibilities as they relate to the US Surety business line which include but are not limited to:
• Providing an unparalleled level of commitment, service and underwriting expertise.
• Supporting the surety needs of Fortune 1000, publicly traded and large privately held companies.
• Delivering results by understanding the unique needs and challenges of our clients’ business, taking a thoughtful solutions-oriented approach to the underwriting process, and working in partnership with our dedicated Surety Legal/Claims Group.
• Proven ability to independently handle a large diverse and complex portfolio of accounts as well as assist Sr Underwriters or Underwriters with their respective portfolios when necessary.

Will have knowledge in target industries and businesses that include but are not limited to: Energy/Oil and Gas, Mining and Minerals, Healthcare, Public Utilities, Industrials, Technology, Manufacturing, Transportation, Waste Services, Insurance and Financial Services. Will have the ability to critically analyze and articulate both verbally and in written form complex ownership/capital structures and/or complex transactional opportunities.
  • Independently develop relationships with assigned brokers in order to develop new business in line with Department strategy and goals, including identification and appointment of select new brokers where warranted.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently manage Regional portfolio and serve as back-up to Regional Manager
  • Establish and communicate premium objectives with target brokers.
  • Participate in Regional annual premium target budgeting process as well as maintain responsibility for achieving individual financial targets within the team.
  • Establish marketing plans for accounts within assigned portfolios.
  • Assist Regional Management in maintaining effective competitive landscape intelligence.
  • Review, negotiate and accept or decline submitted business using assigned underwriting authority and working with Surety Department Senior Management (Regional SVP/VP, Department Global EVP) and others where additional authority or approvals are needed. 
  • Adhere to Amynta Underwriting Principles (AUP) and Policy Pricing Document (PPD) standards as respects underwriting, pricing, file maintenance and account monitoring.
  • Independently negotiate complex General Agreement of Indemnity issues working closely with Amynta Legal/Claims professionals
  • Mentor less senior team members as well as participating in training any assigned trainees to the respective region
  • Maintain account information in electronic file cabinet (EFC) by e-filing e-mail and other pertinent documents in real time.
  • Maintain account information in the Amynta Bond System (ABS) including critical data points that support accurate reporting (account and agency demographics, account rating, limits, indemnity type, cost to complete, account financial statements, internal and S&P rating).
  • Support market associations as warranted by attending important events (NASBP, SFAA, RIMS).
  • Contribute to and work with various Amynta initiatives and Department staff.
  • Support Surety team Associate Underwriting staff by maintaining accurate up to date information including rate and commission data points in support of booking process.
  • Review monthly Department control reports for accuracy of data including bond booking linecards, account listing, expired authority listing, watchlist and collateral index.  Accuracy of information and real time EFC management are critical responsibilities.
  • Responsible for timely premium payments for assigned agencies and accounts.  Work with Associate Underwriting staff on payment/collections issues. 
  • Continuously monitor portfolio of accounts using proactive diary to ensure information is up to date and respond where necessary to deteriorating account condition or failure to meet terms and conditions requirements.
  • Establish and maintain Cap IQ/S&P Watchlist and Alerts.
  • Alert Regional Manager immediately where there is a material deterioration in account status or condition including claim notices.
  • Operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives including extensive travel.
  • Manage Travel & Entertainment budgets within annually determined prescribed amounts.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Amynta’s other product line offerings and identify potential opportunities for additional Amynta business lines with accounts in the assigned portfolio.  
  • Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training (delivered internally and externally) to include attainment of associated qualifications where required. 
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to mentor junior underwriting/trainee team members with regard to financial analysis, bond risk analysis, marketing plans and indemnity negotiations.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)

  • Financial oriented Bachelors Degree is a minimum requirement.  Advanced degree is desirable.
  • AFSB designation is desirable,
  • Experience with Surety underwriting practices and procedures.
  • Associated classes or courses and/or industry license, or designation is desirable.

MINIMUM JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years Surety experience required.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex topics to an audience.
  • Proficiency in the various computer software programs utilized by Amynta
