About the Role:

Perpay is in search of a Senior Credit Risk Manager experienced in consumer lending risk to join our team and play a critical role in developing and optimizing credit risk management strategies. This position is the startup equivalent of a VP or Executive Level Director at a bank.

With the recent introduction of our credit card, we are seeking a seasoned professional capable of navigating the intricacies of risk management to influence decision-making at various organizational levels. As a Senior Credit Risk Manager at Perpay, you will contribute significantly to understanding and mitigating risk factors associated with our expanding operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to coordinate the integration of our risk appetite framework into new and existing credit strategies, including developing underwriting credit risk strategies for credit card products in acquisition and portfolio management, and building new decisioning infrastructure leveraging external credit bureaus and internal data.

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in credit risk management capable of providing strategic insights to enhance our risk management practices. Our ideal candidate possesses analytical proficiency, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. You should be able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, managing multiple projects to influence loss prevention, credit risk, and strategy development, such as designing champion/challenger tests and developing benchmarking analysis for portfolio assessment.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate credit risk strategies for underwriting credit card products in both acquisition and portfolio management phases to enhance profitability, boost revenue, reduce credit losses, and increase customer lifetime value
  • Design and oversee champion/challenger testing, evaluate the results, recommend updates to credit policies based on findings and communicate strategies to stakeholders
  • Utilize SQL, Excel, and other analytical tools to perform detailed data analysis, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, collaborating with Decision Science, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and other departments to achieve credit strategy initiatives
  • Translate complex risk-related data into actionable strategic insights and recommendations
  • Oversee multiple projects and initiatives to ensure they align with the company's risk appetite
  • Effectively communicate risk-related information through data visualization tools and reports

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Chemistry)
  • 5-7 years of experience in a credit risk management-related role
  • Prior financial services experience in credit card required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
