Position: Western Colorado University is recruiting for a full-time Application Administrator – Student Services.  

The Application Administrator – Student Services is responsible for the management, support, and integration of a portfolio of critical student service systems, primarily the housing management system (StarRez), campus identification card system (Transact) and the recreation management system (Fusion). This position oversees all aspects of the respective applications, including administration, integrations, data extractions, hardware device support, ID card production, and coordination with vendors. The position plays a vital role in maintaining reliable, student-facing technologies that support housing, campus access, and identity management functions. 

In addition to technical responsibilities, this position is a liaison between IT Services and various campus partners such as Residence Life, Facilities, Security, Dining Services, and external food service contractors. The administrator ensures seamless integration and operation of related services. 

This is an on-campus, in-person, position. Standard working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Mountain Time, with some flexibility. Occasional after-hours and on-call work is expected. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Information Technology. 

Specific Responsibilities:   

  • Supports the StarRez housing software and associated databases to ensure stable, seamless operations. Collaborates with StarRez support to resolve technical issues and maintain system functionality. Use StarQL to build and maintain features within PortalX, including data subscriptions, web services, email templates, and reports. Monitors integrations with other campus systems. Produces recurring and ad hoc reports to support Residence Life, Student Affairs, and other departments.  Manages housing applications, data flows, and scheduled communications. 

  • Administers the university’s campus identification and door access systems, including the Transact application and Transact Door Access software, providing front-line support for ID card services to students, staff, and campus departments. Collaborates closely with Residence Life, Student Services, Facilities, Security, and external food service providers to ensure smooth operations, system integration, and user support. Oversees software maintenance, upgrades, and integrations; creates and manages access plans; resolves access issues; trains building managers on door access management; supports Facilities Services with hardware troubleshooting and new installations; and manages the purchase, installation, and maintenance of ID card hardware such as card printers, POS devices, activity readers, and related peripherals, including overseeing card production for daily operations and special events. 

  • Supports the university’s recreation management application (Fusion). Ensure system reliability and functionality, and works closely with vendor to identify, resolve, and prevent technical issues. Monitors integrations with other campus systems. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree  

  • Two (2) years of experience in application administration or technical support. (May be substituted by education if bachelor's degree is in Computer Science or Information Technology.) 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:  

  • Advanced degree in computer science or related field. 

  • Specific experience managing enterprise software systems related to student services (e.g., housing, ID card, point-of-sale, or access control systems)   

  • Experience working in higher education. 

 

Compensation: $55,953 to $64,000, annually with benefits. This position is FLSA exempt. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
