Banner Desert Medical Center's Critical Care Service Line is designed to provide specialized care for adult patients with life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. The patient population includes the following: neuro, trauma, respiratory, heart, sepsis, renal, endocrine, infectious diseases, and gastro-intestinal clinical emergencies. Our flexible progressive care/intensive care model helps serve our community by keeping highly skilled staff available to meet the individualized patient care needs. The Registered Nurse Operations Support Specialist collaborates with nursing leadership and education to coordinate education, training, and onboarding of the critical care team at Banner Desert Medical Center.  If you have a passion for seeing new hires and new grads have a successful on-boarding experience and engagement with their new unit, you will find the position rewarding. You work collaboratively with the nursing leadership to roll out education on new products, procedures, clinical practice changes, and education on strategic and quality initiatives. The RN Operations Support Specialist also participates in hospital committees, leads quality initiatives, and assists with audits and environmental rounds to help identify opportunities for improvement.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
