  • Training for:
    • Belting
    • Welding
    • Fabrication
  • Responsible for:
    • Oil and lube mechanical equipment
    • Repair and replace bearings, bushings, clutches, brakes, couplings, and drive components
    • Replace and adjust pump seals, gear boxes, and transmissions
    • Troubleshoot/repair mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, and pumping equipment
  • Use of various heavy mechanic hand tools necessary to repairs to industrial equipment
  • Forklift Operation
  • Assist with the moving of material, equipment and machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding, and rolling.  Operate PIVs to include, but not limited to Forklift
  • Assists in basic training of co-workers on an as-needed basis to include
  • Perform Preventive, Predictive, and Emergency Maintenance inclusive of: Production equipment, lifting, hoisting and material handling equipment, safety devices and facility utilities following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals.
  • Complete shop records and use reporting system following established procedures as required for effective performance of the job or operation of the department.
  • Follow corporate policies and procedures to include code of conduct, safe work procedures and safety policies, including the usage of personal protective equipment; follow corporate procedures, quality processes and checks and communicate effectively cross-functionally

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher
  • Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience at 3M Corona or equivalent experience from outside of 3M.
  • Meets requirements for Maintenance Tech I training program
  • If hired from outside of 3M, the employee must pass Tech 1 training program within 6 months of start date or employment will be terminated.
  • Ability work on the weekends, overtime, holidays as needed, short notice coverage, LIST SHIFT
  • Obtain certification to operate PIVs to include Forklift within one (1)-month of starting the position
  • Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Two-year technical degree from an accredited institution
  • Requires having taken and scored Medium or High on the MSTB Test
  • Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience in Heavy Equipment/Vehicle Repair  
  • Recent experience working at a mine, quarry, cement plant or similar industry
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Performs at an acceptable craft skill set level to meet plant, production, and quality requirements.
  • Possesses the skills to perform mathematical calculations needed to complete tasks
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Experience with basic machining
  • Experience with setting up and operating shop equipment and portable power tools
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing work environment
  • Experience handling hazardous waste material

Pay & Benefits:

  • The starting rate of pay for this position is $35.36. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including their relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. Job Title – Training Program
Maintenance Tech II Summary:

1st formal training given by assigned maintenance trainer by supervisor; supervisor will be present to document. 2-3rd on the job trainings documented ongoing thereafter for each task (supervisor responsible to schedule and be present while a maintenance employee / assigned trainer trains the EE on the job). Employee can request when to complete the final assessment with supervisor (must be in the position for 2 years of service prior to completing the final assessment – ex. Employee starts Maint Tech II position on 1/1/21, employee is unable to complete the final assessment until 1/1/23 or after). Also, employee is required to provide proof of Welding Certification via AWS to supervisor to be eligible to move to Maint III (copy to go into personnel file). Employee will have the option to test into Maint Tech 3 after 2 years of service in this job classification / Maint Tech II.  LOA – makeup the time once they return from LOA / Disability if they’re on disability within the 2 years of service (i.e., employee starts on 1/1/21, they’re on disability leave for 30 calendar days, employee will receive 30 additional calendar days upon their return to make up for the leave of absence lost time)

*When an employee completes and meets the requirements of the final assessment for each task, they’ll be expected to perform the task following all company procedures and expectations*
