Department Overview

RF Site Software Engineering organization, a key component of the ASTRO Networks business segment at Motorola Solutions, consists of a diverse group of software engineers, product architects, system architects, and test engineers. We are situated across various global locations, working collaboratively to develop next-generation RF Site solutions.

Leveraging the latest in virtualization technologies on a robust Linux platform, our team follows modern software development practices such as continuous integration/continuous deployment, DevOps, component-level and system-level automated testing. We use Agile methodologies to organize our work and we are responsible for end-to-end software development life-cycle.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced individual to lead a team of highly skilled professionals in development and testing of mission-critical services and solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for the quality of our products.  

Your tasks will include:

• Mentor and foster career growth of individuals in your team

• Collaborating closely with key stakeholders across various geographic locations to advance the objectives of the RF Site organization and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.

• Building a culture of continuous improvement to drive quality, efficiency, and productivity.

• Providing feedback and recommendations to improve the quality and testability of software designs.

• Communicating test progress, issues, and risks to project stakeholders, including developers, architects, and product managers.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and understanding of testing activities and results.

• Leading creation and execution of test plans and scripts for project-based, new software rollout in close collaboration with architects and developers

• Overseeing  the construction and maintenance of the organization's lab infrastructure

• Driving the development and maintenance of automated test frameworks

• Driving, building and maintaining the organization's data analytics framework, leveraging the latest technologies in data mass storage/indexing, AI and automation.

• Triaging software problems prior to production rollouts

• Participating in reviews of architectural and design requirements to ensure testability and identify potential risks or issues.

• Developing test plan/schedule and maintaining test matrix based on development 

• Using tools such as Quality Center or TestRail to track the progress of test case development and execution

Qualifications:

• People management skills

• Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

• At least 7+ years of significant experience in creating and executing test plans, and in developing and maintaining test infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and processes.

• Skills in defect detection and characterization

• Knowledge of Python language

• Aptitude to independently learn new technologies

• Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.

• Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with C++

• Knowledge/experience in RF/Telecommunications systems.

• Exposure to Agile/DevOps development practices.

• Experience with Linux/Unix.

• Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence.

• Understanding of real-time processing in an embedded environment.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
