MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

Specifically, you have accountability for the following named department and all direct employees of this department

  • Risk - Operational Risk Management - Framework, Policy and Governance & Reporting

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specifically, you will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the Company’s and Operational Risk Management as 2nd line of defence, including but not limited to:

Design, development and maintenance of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF), and Policy related documentation and tools.

  • Maintain and update all documentation ensuring it meets all industry standards and provides sufficient oversight and information for all users of ORMF
  • Manage all aspects of the ORMF tool (OpenPages) ensuring that it meets all framework requirements and is updated on a regularly basis and thus fully operational

Design, development, maintenance and operation of key Operational Risk owned governance fora.  (Note fora may change over time with additions/deletions)

  • EMEA Operational Risk Control Committee:  
  • Securities International Operational Risk Control Committee:  

Design, development and delivery of Operational Risk Reporting & Analysis for internal and external purposes.

  • Responsible for completion and submission of all OR reporting to all key internal governance committees identifying key areas of enhanced operational risk
  • Development and ownership of all reporting to move to enhanced insight of operational risk
  • Provision, oversight and development of all reporting templates for ORMF related activities
  • Ownership of all Executive Control Committee activities including control attestation, control themes, issue reporting(etc)

Design, development, delivery and representation of Scenario Analysis and ICAAP for Operational Risk.

  • Execution of all aspects of the scenario analysis for the ICAAP including representation to senior governance and regulator
  • Ownership of process and policy and all documentation in relation to this process and interaction with the relevant quant team

Provide/manage training and communication for all ORMF related activities.

  • Management, production, oversight and delivery of all key ORMF related training including mandatory training, framework training, tool training
  • Input to training activities from all other functions

Provide operational risk subject matter expertise, monitor and communicate the operational risk environment across ORM and to management, and other key stakeholders.

  • Liaise across department and ensure all members of ORM are fully aware of all requirements of ORM and provide an enterprise level of ORM connecting all aspects of ORM
  • Represent ORM in and the ORMF with internal and external stakeholders and in key projects where required

Challenge the business and support functions to provide evidence that they are identifying, assessing, managing and reporting their operational risk appropriately.

  • Provide independent broad assessment and monitoring of MUFG’s Operational Risk profile, through review of underlying operational risk data and reports

Miscellaneous Activities

  • Liaise across all MUFG regions and entities with OR and other 2LoD functions to further develop ORMF activities, tools, expectations and connectedness
  • Manage ORMF liaison to international locations (Asia/Americas/Japan) ensuring regular calls, information exchange
  • Ensure awareness of industry and regulatory expectations and best practices and adopt at MUFG
  • Lead for determination and oversight of an outsourcing and offshoring in relation to ORM
  • Manage all internal and external audit interactions with ORMF and ensure constant audit readiness
  • Oversight of change activities ensuring that all ORM expectations are met
  • Meet all expectations of people management inline with MUFG expectations
  • Lead complex projects including ad hoc/investigations/deep dives and facing off to senior stakeholders.
