Huron helps its clients drive growth, enhance performance and sustain leadership in the markets they serve. We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you’ll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.
As the Clinical Informaticist, you will:
Leverage your deep clinical experience to analyze, design, and optimize workflows, ensuring the EHR is safe, effective, and intuitive for nurses and the interdisciplinary care team
Reduce cognitive burden, improve patient safety, and act as a tireless advocate for the needs of your fellow clinicians
Be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a passion for technology and process improvement
Translate the complex realities of patient care into functional system requirements as a problem-solver
Spend your time on the floor observing workflows, facilitating design sessions with your clinical peers, and then rigorously testing the system to ensure it works as intended
Be a key player in training and provide critical ""at-the-elbow"" support during go-live events
Serve as the voice of the nurse in the room, ensuring that technology serves the clinician, not the other way around
Key Responsibilities:
Workflow Analysis & Design
Analyze current-state nursing and interdisciplinary workflows to identify safety risks, inefficiencies, and documentation pain points
Lead design sessions with clinical end-users (nurses, physicians, therapists) to develop optimized, evidence-based future-state workflows within the EHR
Create detailed workflow diagrams (e.g., using Visio) and document functional requirements that clearly articulate the needs of the clinician
Solution Validation & Clinical Support
Develop and execute clinically relevant test scenarios to validate that system configuration is safe, accurate, and supportive of nursing practice
Review all training materials for clinical accuracy and effectiveness, ensuring they resonate with and properly prepare end-users
Provide expert ""at-the-elbow"" support to nursing staff during go-live and post-go-live stabilization, acting as a trusted resource and troubleshooter
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
Serve as the primary clinical liaison between nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and the IT application/build teams
Champion evidence-based practices and patient safety principles in all design and implementation discussions
Advocate for system enhancements and optimizations that improve the end-user experience and support top-of-license practice
Requirements:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an acute care nursing setting is required, combined with experience in an informatics, ""super user,"" or application support role
Advanced knowledge of Oracle Health (Cerner) clinical solutions from a user and workflow perspective, including PowerChart, PowerOrders, eMAR, and clinical documentation tools
Deep understanding of hospital-based nursing workflows, medication administration processes, interdisciplinary care planning, and patient safety principles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to build rapport, establish trust, and effectively train clinical peers
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Registered Nurse (RN) license or other equivalent license is preferred
