Flowserve is seeking a Senior Application Engineer – Nuclear to support a rapidly growing portfolio of nuclear projects within our engineered pump business.
This is a highly technical, detail-driven engineering role, focused on reviewing complex specifications, performing pump selection, and ensuring compliance with strict nuclear quality standards. This is not a commercial or sales engineering position — we are looking for a true engineer with deep technical expertise.The role sits within a team of experienced engineers and plays a critical part in supporting Flowserve’s strategic expansion in the nuclear sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret complex customer specifications, including large-scale technical and nuclear quality documents
- Perform pump, driver, and system selection aligned with customer requirements and engineering best practices
- Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards, including ASME Section III and QA requirements (e.g., QA1)
- Define scope of supply and develop technically accurate proposals for engineered pump systems
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders across engineering, sales, and project teams
- Work through complex workflows, balancing technical, commercial, and customer requirements
- Maintain accuracy and quality in all technical documentation and submissions
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Strong technical engineering foundation with experience reviewing detailed specifications
- Experience working in complex industrial environments (e.g., pumps, rotating equipment, energy, oil & gas, or similar)
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage highly technical documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the nuclear industry
- Familiarity with nuclear codes and standards (ASME Section III, QA programs such as QA1)
- Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, or fluid systems
- Background in application engineering, project engineering, or product engineering
