Job Description:

Infrastructure and Information Security Manager - Tucasi UK

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and Development, the Infrastructure and Information Security Manager is responsible for managing all technical aspects of Tucasi’s infrastructure estate; including co-lo and AWS (EC2, RDS and Kubernetes).

The Infrastructure and Information Security Manager will also take responsibility for information security management of our customers data assets; working alongside our parent companies compliance teams to implement and monitor security controls and work with the wider business to improve risk management processes.

To be successful in this role, you will be experienced working with open-source technologies e.g. RHEL, Postgres, Puppet e.t.c, in a HA mission critical environment.  You will also be experienced in managing co-located data centres, along with cloud (preferable AWS).

This role would suit someone who is looking to remain hands-on technical but would like to gain some management experience with a view to stepping into a hands-off management role in the future.

You will be required to partake in an on-call rota for approximately 1/3rd of each month.

You will be required to spend 10% of your working time undertaking professional development.

Principal responsibilities and tasks

  • Oversee maintenance and technical operations of Tucasi’s compute environments ensuring availability, integrity and confidentiality of Tucasi’s data assets and services (e.g. monitoring, patching, preventative maintenance e.t.c)

  • Line management of infrastructure/devops engineers.

  • Take ownership and improve upon Tucasi’s risk management processes.

  • Work alongside application developers to ensure application operability and reliability are built into development processes.

  • Experiment with new technology with a view to continually improving service delivery.

  • Act as the Tucasi champion and main point of contact for our parent companies IT & Compliance teams to ensure adherence to group policies and procedures

Personal Characteristics

  • Trust: You always ask for help when struggling.  You never conceal weaknesses and can openly admit where your understanding of a subject matter is lacking.  You don’t hesitate to offer feedback (both good and bad) to others on the team

  • Constructive Conflict: You don’t hesitate to voice opinions and concerns, and do not fear discussion of controversial topics.  You view disagreements as a positive team trait and vital for continuous improvement

  • Hunger: You are always looking for more to do, always pushing the team to meet its goals and rarely must be pushed by your manager or the wider team.  You happily accept personal sacrifice for the good of the team

  • Humility: You are not concerned with status, are quick to point out the contributions of others and slow to seek recognition for your own work as an individual contributor.  You share credit and highlight the successes of the team, rather than your own

  • Emotionally Smart: You are emotionally intelligent, able to effectively deal with others in group situations.  You will have good judgement and intuition around the subtleties of group dynamics and the impacts your words and actions can have on others

  • Cool Under Pressure: You will be comfortable dealing with high-stress situations (e.g. service outages and information security breaches), able to remain calm and take an analytics approach to problem solving
