Overview: 

The Robotics & Controls Intern will join the wider Robotics & Controls team. We are a group of highly motivated roboticists working on development of algorithms and productions level software that live at the heart of a complex robotic surgical system for medical applications. We work in a variety of exciting robotic functions including but not limited to kinematic and dynamic analysis, motion generation, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), signal processing, control algorithms, system response characterization, performance and detailed software development. 

 

Core Job Responsibilities: 

• Develop, implement, and test algorithms for sophisticated robotic systems 

• Actively participate in algorithmic, control, mechanical design discussions and code reviews 

• Develop Python software for real-time, safety critical applications 

Required Knowledge and Skills 

• In depth understanding of signal processing, real-time filtering, dynamic system modeling, and sensor/actuator interfacing for embedded platforms. 

• Familiarity with classical machine learning techniques focusing on classification models to noisy, real-world sensor data. 

• Excellent communication and documentation 

• Currently enrolled in Masters or PhD (PhD preferred) program at an accredited University or College program throughout the entire duration of the internship. Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher and be available to work the hours agreed upon with the hiring manager. 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience 

• Familiarity working with large codebases and have a good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. object-oriented design and data structures in UNIX environments) 

• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Matlab. Familiarity with C++ is expected 

The expected pay range for this position is between $31.00 per hour and $59.00 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year.
