Overview:
The Robotics & Controls Intern will join the wider Robotics & Controls team. We are a group of highly motivated roboticists working on development of algorithms and productions level software that live at the heart of a complex robotic surgical system for medical applications. We work in a variety of exciting robotic functions including but not limited to kinematic and dynamic analysis, motion generation, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), signal processing, control algorithms, system response characterization, performance and detailed software development.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and test algorithms for sophisticated robotic systems
Actively participate in algorithmic, control, mechanical design discussions and code reviews
Develop Python software for real-time, safety critical applications
Required Knowledge and Skills
In depth understanding of signal processing, real-time filtering, dynamic system modeling, and sensor/actuator interfacing for embedded platforms.
Familiarity with classical machine learning techniques focusing on classification models to noisy, real-world sensor data.
Excellent communication and documentation
Currently enrolled in Masters or PhD (PhD preferred) program at an accredited University or College program throughout the entire duration of the internship. Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher and be available to work the hours agreed upon with the hiring manager.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience
Familiarity working with large codebases and have a good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. object-oriented design and data structures in UNIX environments)
Strong programming experience in Python and/or Matlab. Familiarity with C++ is expected
The expected pay range for this position is between $31.00 per hour and $59.00 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
