Together we fight for everyone’s opportunity for a better financial future.

We will do this together — with customers, partners and colleagues. We will fight for others, not against: We will stand up for and champion everyone’s access to opportunities. The status quo is not good enough … we believe every individual and every community deserves access to financial opportunities. We are determined to support both individuals and communities in reaching a better financial future.  We know that reaching this future depends on our actions today.

Like our Purpose Statement, Voya believes in being bold and committed to action.  We are committed to a work environment where the differences that we are born with — and those we acquire throughout our lives — are understood, valued and intentionally pursued. We believe that our employees own our culture and have a responsibility to foster an environment where we all feel comfortable bringing our whole selves to work. Purposefully bringing our differences together to positively influence our culture, serve our clients and enrich our communities is essential to our vision.

The Analyst will leverage past commercial and/or investment banking or related experience to support investment team capabilities in new transactions, portfolio monitoring and restructurings. • Support all aspects of business – new transactions, portfolio monitoring and restructurings.
  • Manage deal screens, new deal processes and drive the process through deal closing.
  • Conduct all financial modeling.
  • Conduct extensive industry research – understand all of the following structural determinants of industry competition that influence cash flow drivers: (i) existing competition; (ii) barriers to entry; (iii) price-value trade-off; (iv) bargaining power with customers; and (v) bargaining power with suppliers.
  • Assist daily with portfolio management and monitoring of portfolio companies and creating related reports/spreadsheets/tracking interest and principal payments and full & partial prepayments.
  • Actively involved in due diligence and transaction documentation for investment opportunities.
  • Distill information into relevant format and disseminate to the investment team.
  • Interact collaboratively with management teams and senior level CAM professionals in CT and CA locations.

  • Solid understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes in financial position, cash flow – EBITDA, working capital, cash from ops, capex) and accounting (timing of cash flow: revenue recognition, cost flow assumptions, depreciation methods, acquisition accounting).
  • Ability to understand new businesses and financial analyses quickly and reach a conclusion with less than full information, based on CAM investment criteria.
  • Develop and express independent thoughts and opinions.
  • Ability to think and act like an owner/investor. Own the portfolio and take full responsibility for its success.

  • Superb attention to detail– no shortcuts, no “80% is sufficient” or “good enough.”
  • Don’t get hung up with convention. Think “out of the box.” Ask questions. Challenge management/sponsors or they will guide your thought.
  • Outstanding time management skills including ability to plan, execute, and deliver multiple concurrent projects in a timely manner with externally driven deadlines that may shift during the course of a project.
