The Instructional Designer serves as a course developer and is responsible for building and maintaining a role-based curriculum of: instructor-led, web-based, and eLearning courses that meet our customers’ training needs.  

The Instructional Designer serves as a course developer and is responsible for supporting the Senior Instructional Designer in building and maintaining a role-based curriculum of instructor-led, web-based, and eLearning courses tailored to meet our customers’ training needs.


This role involves all aspects of course development, including needs analysis, high-level design, detailed design, content development, beta testing, production finalization, and rollout. The Instructional Designer will work cross-functionally and interface with both internal teams and external clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Collaboration

Assist the Manager, Client Education, and the Instructional Design team in: 

  • Developing and refining customer training processes and best practices.

  • Supporting onboarding and continuous training of internal staff regarding training delivery procedures.


Training Content Development

  • Gather training requirements for customers and sites across all studies.

  • Coordinate the production and curation of raw content for use in eLearning, video-based, and instructor-led training.

  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), product teams, project managers, and cross-functional partners.

  • Design curricula for product, project, and protocol-specific training deliverables.

Instructional Design Tasks

  • Design and develop technical product training courses for external clients.

  • Partner with SMEs to validate content accuracy and instructional relevance.

  • Manage the lifecycle of training assets, including updates and archival.

  • Work with product management and engineering teams to ensure new features are reflected in training content.

  • Contribute to consistent processes for new product launches and updates.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Skills


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field).

  • Instructional Design certifications are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience designing and developing instructional content.

  • Strong experience applying instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, etc.).

  • Proven success in creating content for multiple delivery formats (e.g., instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, self-paced).

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience working in regulated industries or life sciences is a plus.

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical industry training is a plus.

Technical Skills


Proficiency in: 

  • Articulate Storyline 360 

  • Adobe Captivate 

  • Adobe Creative Suite: PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator

  • Microsoft Word, Visio

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Content Management Solutions (CMS)

  • Familiarity with video creation tools and virtual platforms (e.g., Adobe Connect, Zoom).

  • Ability to learn technical products quickly from documentation and pre-release versions.


Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a collaborative environment.

Preferred

  • Experience designing global training programs.

  • eLearning-related certifications.

  • Knowledge of rapid training development processes and agile methodologies.
