POSITION PURPOSE:

Assists in managing, supervising and continually improving the processes, operations, and performances of the designated area(s) of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs all functions listed in the Respiratory Therapist Job Description.

  • May function in place of the director as assigned by the director.

  • Assist in recruiting, orienting, training, evaluating and monitoring on-the-job performance of subordinate staff.

  • Assist in coordinating and assigning sufficient, appropriate personnel to maintain continuity and quality care.

  • Aids department teams with the coordination patient procedures and patient discharge needs.

  • Enforces policies and procedures to ensure department effectiveness; recommends revisions if needed.   

  • Implements orientation, in-service training and continuing education programs for all persons in the department(s).

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and conducting ongoing Performance Improvement (PI) and Quality Control (QC) programs for the department(s).

  • Collects and reports relevant statistical data to reflect the activities of the department and staff as assigned by the manager.

  • Participates in the budgeting and other processes through research, monitoring, and implementation. Advises the director of staffing, space, equipment and other department(s) needs.  

  • Implements and maintains documentation as required by professional and organizational standards, including but not limited to; incidents, discipline/counseling, competencies, schedules, orientation, polices and procedures, proposals for equipment, supplies, capital expenditures, staff meetings, time and attendance.

  • Performs other duties deemed necessary.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an acute care setting required.

  • Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.

  • ACLS, PALS, or NRP certification required as applicable to areas of responsibility within one year.

  • Strong computer literacy- Excel, Word, and Power-Point preferred.

  • Flexible scheduling to attend meetings and in-services.

Compensation Range

$68,671.28 - $102,931.92
