Job Description:

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), this role supports the Operations team in SRM who are responsible for day-to-day operational management of 3rd party suppliers.  This role demands a resourceful people leader with proven change management skills, and the ability to build and lead successful, high performing teams.

What will you do?

  • Support and coach team members in day-to-day activities, providing regular performance feedback to support their professional development and career path
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by utilizing the Brighter Way Management System (BWMS) to drive change
  • Review and analyze metrics to support planning, efficient workflow distribution and performance assessment activities and highlight accomplishment and opportunities
  • Handle internal escalated issues to ensure effective resolution, determine root cause and make process improvement recommendations where required
  • Utilize available tools and reports to measure quality, service delivery and productivity of the team and support resource planning
  • Demonstrate and reinforce the ability to build relationships within teams and across Business Units
  • Manage work volumes, staff levels and productivity within the team
  • Plan, monitor and review progress of team training

What do you need to succeed?

  • 2 - 3 years of people management experience, ideally in a Supplier Relationship Management environment
  • Excellent coaching, development, and team-building skills
  • Proven skill in attracting and retaining talent
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex and evolving environment
  • Demonstrated Client focus
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to processes and escalations
  • Ability to work independently and highlight solutions to next level leadership
  • Exemplary communication skills including communicating with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels
  • Ability to pivot quickly to changing priorities and manage competing demands while prioritizing with excellence
  • Demonstrated collaborative and interactive style that initiates and facilitates discussion within the team and with our business partners
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Word

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with reporting tools
  • Supply Chain Certificate with focus on contract experience, including understanding of pricing model
  • Knowledge of Canadian Document Services and various business areas within Sun Life (e.g., Individual Insurance, Group Disability etc.)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
