Job Description

The Bose Information Technology Manufacturing Systems Manager role is leadership position responsible for driving efficiencies and services that improve productivity of Bose manufacturing plant workers and services.  This role is focused on providing IT Services and proactively work with managers and end-users to implement information technology solutions that are cost effective and enable the plant to achieve cost related goals and objectives.  In alignment with Bose Corporate, and Manufacturing goals, this role oversees or participates in the selection, implementation and support technologies to support plant operations; and is accountable for driving improvements and overseeing crucial functions such as endpoint, network, and server/compute services across the Manufacturing IT ecosystem. 

This role is a key member of the plant leadership team acting as plant liaison with other Corporate IT organizations (Corporate Information Technology, Engineering Information Systems, etc.). 

Specific Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include supervising Manufacturing IT professionals located at the Tijuana manufacturing site. Supervision responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, salary administration, performance evaluations and employee development. Develops and meets Manufacturing IT expense and capital budget for the plant. goals, oversees the implementation and support of the following technologies:

  • MES (manufacturing execution systems) and related shop floor point solutions
  • Data communications and networks (WAN and local area networks, switches, routers, exchange servers, wiring, network monitoring and diagnostic equipment).
  • Voice communication systems (phones, pagers, and voice mail).
  • Computing hardware (servers, desktop and laptop computers).
  • Systems software (operating systems, backup and recovery, data base management systems, job scheduling and report writers).
  • Office products (video projectors, fax, printers, scanners and copiers).

In alignment with Bose Corporate and Manufacturing goals, implements and supports infrastructure required to meet plant information and communications systems needs including:

  • Site infrastructure and computer operations.
  • Information systems “Service Desk” services.
  • 7 x 24 systems support.
  • Systems and data security.
  • System backup and recovery processes.
  • Hardware and software maintenance/support contracts.
  • Disaster recovery.
  • Capacity planning (networks, computing power, network capacity)
  • Documentation of Manufacturing processes and systems.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong Customer Service management skills and the ability to develop, mentor, motivate, and evaluate Manufacturing Operations Staff to provide high levels of service, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Superior time and task management ability and judgement to accurately assess business priorities.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes for incident, change and problem management.
  • Strong knowledge of the varying plant operations groups, how they interact with one another, and what systems are utilized.
  • Demonstrated broad technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional listening, communication (written and spoken), data storytelling and presentation skills with an ability to gain buy-in, influence and build rapport with partners of diverse cultures and levels of expertise.
  • Change agent who excels at change management, is organized, detailed, and able to grasp and apply new concepts quickly and relay/implement within the team.
  • Accountability – embraces a strong drive for results, relentless pursuit of quality deliverables with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Complexity management in broad organizations with competing priorities.

Experience Requirements:

  • 8+ years Management experience and a proven history in IT Operations, Service Desk, Technology Support and Customer Service in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Experience designing, managing, and / or continuously supporting core IT Service Management processes (Incident, Problem, Change)
  • Experience using ITSM platforms to manage ITSM / Knowledge with strong operational experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement mature IT practices in a fast-paced transformational organization.
  • Experience conducting trend and root cause analysis and developing action plans, policies, and procedures to avoid future issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong alliances with those outside of your immediate organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with other business leaders to develop a vision and strategy for manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to travel for business purposes as required, including international.

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field, or relevant experience.
  • ITIL and digital certification (Expert or Master preferred).
  • Additional certifications in applicable areas of expertise is desired.
  • Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to staying updated on emerging trends and technologies in vendor management.
