Your Role: Consulting Veterinarian - Strategic Partnerships

Within the Elanco US Pet Health Business Unit, the Consulting Veterinarian (CV) for Strategic Partnerships (SP) serves as a companion animal veterinary technical anchor for the Elanco team of corporate/distribution account managers. While knowledge of all Elanco products and disease states is essential, the role’s focus will be positioning and educating industry partners on Elanco parasiticides, vaccines, dermatologic portfolio and innovation. The SP CV educates, provides training, and facilitates adoption of Elanco’s Pet Health product portfolio in the hospitals of strategic industry partners. The SP CV helps develop and implement the Elanco veterinary medical strategy with assigned corporate and strategic customers and serves as Elanco’s primary medical/technical point of contact to their key medical personnel. The SP CV also coordinates broader RCV team activities to support the goals of the SP team. This role requires extensive domestic travel (up to 60-75%), and travel varies throughout the year. Candidates should have reasonable accessibility to a major airport.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary medical point of contact for Corporate/Strategic partners; provide technical support to Strategic Partnership account managers; cultivate relationships and influence formulary approval/adoption.

  • Communicate product features, benefits, and disease-state information via in-person, remote, and recorded presentations; plan, staff, and organize RCV presentations and field support at partner regional/sponsored meetings.

  • Provide technical support for new and existing product launches; develop and implement medical/positioning strategies to meet partnership goals.

  • Actively participate in the Strategic Account Management (SAM) process; understand business, contracts, and strategic principles; assist account managers in relationship building and deliver product technical training as needed.

  • Travel regularly (~60%, higher during launches) to partner regional meetings, corporate offices, and hospitals to execute medical presentations and stakeholder engagement.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Graduate of an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited veterinary program with corresponding veterinary degree. Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the USA.

  • 5 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian in companion animal or mixed animal practice (companion animal focus). Consideration may also be given for experience in comparable industry roles.

  • A valid US driver’s license.

  • Experienced in interactions with corporate veterinary medicine (veterinarians and clinics)

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Companion-animal market and clinical/product expertise (Elanco and competitor portfolios, disease knowledge, strong diagnostic skills; solid training in Elanco product categories).

  • Strategic account partnership and business acumen (build relationships in corporate veterinary medicine; translate technical info to Strategic Account business needs; SAM experience; practice ownership/management and business training are pluses).

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (written, verbal, interpersonal) to influence diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong planning and cross-functional execution (prioritize and deliver across multiple business functions).

  • Field-based autonomy and sound judgment (operate with minimal supervision; make decisions amid uncertainty and ambiguity).

Additional Information:

  • Location: Remote, all US geographies considered

  • Travel: > 60%
