Chief Finance Officer, Workplace Solutions
The CFO Workplace Solutions is the key financial strategic advisor on critical matters that directly impact Voya Workplace Solutions business and the overall Finance results of Voya Financial. The successful candidate will provide leadership and management for all financial matters impacting Voya Workplace businesses, which include Health Solutions, Wealth Solutions and recently acquired Benefitfocus.
The CFO, Workplace Solutions is a newly created role established to maximize the profitable growth of the Workplace businesses. Acting as a key strategic advisor to the EVP of Finance and CEO, Workplace Solutions, this leader will provide financial, operational, and strategic support, such as, but not limited to:
- support achievement of financial targets
- manage and maintain reliable forecasts and accurate reporting, furthering controls where needed
- enhancing key performance indicators to manage optimal performance of businesses
- develop and lead talent in a manner consistent with Voya’s Purpose and Vision
Reporting relationship:
The CFO Workplace Solutions will report to the EVP of Finance.
Primary Purpose
Lead the Workplace Solutions finance function to maximize growth potential and profitability of the business while supporting achievement of financial targets
As a member of the Voya Workplace Solutions & Finance Leadership teams, this person will help set the strategic direction for the Workplace Solutions business and provide day to day counsel to ensure financially principled and responsible decision making, appropriate management and superior governance practices.
Partner with leadership across Voya Financial and all subsidiaries to ensure workplace decisions are in the best interest of Voya Financial and its shareholders.
Major Accountabilities
•Working with the EVP Finance and the senior finance team to ensure that overall financial metrics are measured, monitored, and managed to achieve accurate forecasts and best in class results
•Working with the Workplace CEO and the Executive Leadership Team, with aim to enhance profitability growth by actively contributing to operational and strategic matters
•Oversee the establishment and maintenance of fiscal controls and processes to ensure accuracy of financial reporting; preparation and interpretation of financial reports; the development of comprehensive and timely budgets and financial plans
•Maintain robust financial management process for Workplace Solutions in total and for each business segment that ensures deep and broad understanding of revenue sources, spend, and sources and uses of capital
•Manage the annual financial planning process, including liaison between all financial, product and risk functions
•In partnership with Voya Controller, implement and maintain overall accounting policies and controls for business
•With CEO, represent Workplace Solutions financial organization to key internal and external constituents, including rating agencies, external auditors, and regulators
•Manages team within the function including objective setting, development planning, maintaining Voya culture and salary administration
•Enhance talent through rotations, diversity, equity and inclusion, succession and stretch assignments
•Support all elements of business read-outs for workplace solutions to management, board, and investors
Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
•15+ years’ experience in financial management
•7+ years in a financial leadership role
•Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting or finance)
•Demonstrate effective communication, leadership, problem-solving and strategizing skills; experience working/ presenting to auditors, executives, rating agencies and Board of Directors
•Agile, continuous improvement mindset; ability to identify and implement processes and system improvements
•High integrity, purpose-driven, DEI mindset with a strong interest in developing / educating colleagues in financial matters
•Technically grounded in planning, budgeting, controls, financial and management reporting, and systems
•Technical knowledge of US GAAP is required; technical knowledge of Statutory Accounting is a plus
•Preferred: FSA, MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus
•Preferred experience in financial services, banking, insurance or fintech
•Preferred experience in the Fortune 500 with a publicly held organization
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will be purpose-driven, have the ability to function effectively as a senior executive in the Finance Function and the Workplace Solutions leadership team, and gain the complete trust and respect of the CFO of Voya Financial, EVP of Finance and CEO of Workplace Solutions, as well as leaders across Voya. In order to effectively perform this role, the Workplace Solutions CFO should possess the following personal qualities:
•Change Leadership. This executive will demonstrate the ability to lead the income statement and balance sheet performance in a highly regulated and scrutinized environment. He/she will be comfortable with making tough decisions and in exercising authority. He/she will be a person that leads by example in demonstrating by his or her own behavior the changes expected in the way employees perform and in developing a heightened awareness of the need for organizational change. The successful candidate will be skilled in linking together multiple, change initiatives in structure, systems, people, etc. and ensuring their alignment with key change goals.
•Team Leadership. The candidate will have a history assembling and building strong teams. He/she will be a leader who builds confidence in and empowers others, and who clearly communicates goals and expectations as well as the actions required to achieve them. He/she will also be someone who is comfortable in resolving conflict and in providing direct and forthright feedback to others. He/she will clearly communicate goals and expectations and the actions required to achieve them. Someone worth emphasizing the importance of teamwork and partnering to achieve goals.
•Organizational Awareness. The Workplace CFO will be able to understand the current challenges and the strengths and weaknesses of the organization quickly and accurately. He/she will have the ability to determine the real drivers of success with an eye toward needed changes in roles, structures, processes, etc. He/she will be the one who is effective in challenging the status quo and thinking out of the box to develop creative and original solutions to problems.
•Energy and Stamina. The Workplace CFO will focus a high level of energy on the business both strategically and through fostering relationships internally. He/she will be committed to achieving results by working hard, making demands, and setting high performance standards for all. He/she should transmit energy to others, bounce back after reversals and one who forges ahead creatively despite obstacles. He/she should have a strong work ethic but also be well balanced personally. The challenge of the opportunity should result in energy, drive and passion and provides the foundation for making a significant difference in the organization.

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
$360,000 - $450,000 USD
