Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems organization is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Data Engineer or Sr. Principal Data Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This role will sit in our Melbourne, FL location, and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

We are a team of Manufacturing Engineers who provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and challenging problems. The selected candidate will stand up, configure, maintain, and analyze the organization’s databases.  Additionally, the individual will support data collection platform development, various code maintenance and query needs for downstream visualizations and metrics for organizational key performance indicators.

 

Please Note: A start date, for candidates selected, will be determined after obtaining Special Program Access and contingent upon Business/Customer funding.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable data architecture solutions
• Research, evaluate, and determine best fit of tools and techniques for data mapping, data mining, data transformation, and data integration
• Develop complex queries or routines to extract data form disparate sources
• Develop and troubleshoot code, stored procedures, functions, tables, and views.
• Collaborate with functional teams to understand systems and align on data and system requirements.
• Consult with customers and stakeholders to define data needs, gather requirements, and translate them into actionable solutions
• Regularly update leadership and stakeholders on project status, challenges, and outcomes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives

This requisition may be filled at a Principal Data Engineer / Sr. Principal Data Engineer based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications Principal Data Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of data analytics or data engineering experience; OR a Master's degree with 3 years’ of data analytics or data engineering experience, PhD and 0 year of data analytics or data engineering experience
• Work experience in multiple software code languages with querying, scripting, and automation (Python, Java, SQL, HTML, JS, CSS, Power BI/Dax, and Airflow.)
• Experience in Extraction Transform Load (ETL) and data migration
• Active Secret DOD clearance investigated within the last 5 1/2 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access security clearance in a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Data Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of data analytics or data engineering experience; OR a Master's degree with 6 years’ of data analytics or data engineering experience, PhD and 4 year of data analytics or data engineering experience
• Work experience in multiple software code languages with querying, scripting, and automation (Python, Java, SQL, HTML, JS, CSS, Power BI/Dax, and Airflow.)
• Experience in Extraction Transform Load (ETL) and data migration
• Active Secret DOD clearance investigated within the last 5 1/2 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access security clearance in a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Program Access
• Relevant experience in manufacturing engineering
• Experience with software workflow and visualization applications such as ServiceNow and Tableau
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science
• Working knowledge in programming languages such as R or Spark

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
