Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities. 
  • Participate in training, orientation, competency assessment and education of new employees. 
  • Underwrite the life insurance applications according to company underwriting guidelines. 
  • Collaborate with agents and stakeholders to gather necessary information for underwriting assessments. 
  • Underwrite the risk assessment of applications regardless of complex/high face amount cases and make underwriting decisions with proper rationales. 
  • Assist in the resolution of complex underwriting cases and escalate issues when appropriate. 
  • Follow through the New Business admin procedure and workflow to ensure meeting service turnaround. 
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines, tools/systems to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. 
  • Handle sales/customer enquiries relating to application submission in a professional manner. 
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with all kinds of the teams to support them so that we understand each other on practices and procedures. 
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of underwriting processes, guidelines, and strategies. 
  • Make regular reports as required.  
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degrees from medical fields are preferable. 
  • Underwriting experience in the life insurance industry is preferable. 
  • In-depth knowledge of medical impairments, non-medical aspects such as financial, avocational, occupational, geographical/political risks and their impact on mortality/morbidity. 
  • In-depth knowledge of life insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment. 
  • Good knowledge of insurable interest and financial underwriting principles. 
  • Able to make a basic analysis of financial evidence such as banks statement, tax returns, company accounts. 
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on quality. 
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize and meet deadlines. 
  • Good verbal and written communication with colleagues, clients in both Khmer and English. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with sales, clients and vendors. 
  • Result focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic. 
  • Customer focused, with a strong ethic of service and fairness to the customer. 
  • Obsess about customers, do the right thing, think big, get it done together, own it, share your humanity. 
  • Good knowledge of ability to report data, analyze fact finding, and apply problem-solving skills. 
  • Decision making skills, able to rationalize the whole risk and come up with the proper decision.  
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrate strong commitment and responsibility, tendency to work overtime and weekends. 
  • Ability to give professional presentations to groups of agents on various underwriting topics. 
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and tools, as well as computer literate in Microsoft Office.
