This is an opportunity to join the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team at GSK, within the Oncology Business Unit. It’s an exciting time to join a forward-thinking medical team, in which you will join the team accountable for our scientific and medical expert engagement plan in haematology. As an MSL, you will be responsible for responding to scientific and medical requests with the top experts in this field, bringing to life new data science for GSK medicines. Through this position you will become an expert in the haematology oncology disease area, with a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to patients. This role is 100% field-based.

In this role you will

  • Engage in one-to-one scientific dialogue with external experts around GSK’s medicines in line with GSK Code of Practice and local laws and regulations.
  • Support GSK study teams by providing scientific expertise as required to investigators and staff engaged in GSK-supported clinical trials and Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISS).
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for Medical Information from healthcare providers in a fair, factual, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate and preferred channel.
  • Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal GSK medical team and its affiliates to bring in value-added insights that inform GSK Medical and Research & Development activities.
  • Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. sales, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are both patient and business focused, and meeting expressed external expert needs.
  • Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals as and when this emerges.
  • Provide scientific education training for business partners such as the Medical Representatives by being the local scientific expert for a medicine or group of medicines in a therapy area.
  • Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and treatment landscape.
  • Attend scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in a therapy area and to confidently debate and discuss the science with external experts.
  • Fully understand and comply with GSK standards and policies and with local codes of practice, guidelines, and laws to ensure all requirements are met.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Higher degree in life sciences (PhD, MSc or equivalent)
  • Qualified healthcare professional with experience in aligned disease area (e.g. nurse practitioner, physician, surgeon, physiotherapist or pharmacist) OR significant experience working in the pharmaceutical industry in a medical affairs capacity, in a role successfully engaging with external experts aligned to this role aligned disease area.
  • Proven experience showing scientific thinking with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of being able to successfully and consistently build relationships, engaging specialists and facilitating connections between NHS, other health providers and GSK.
  • Previous experience clearly articulating complicated scientific and medical ideas, and the ability to extrapolate and understand information to define and share key insights with GSK.
  • You should be a fantastic networker and will work in a highly proactive way, spotting and responding to code compliant opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, MPharm, PharmD)
  • Expertise in current or near future aligned GSK therapy area
  • Strong academic background having participated in, or led research projects and authored publications.
