The Coordinator, Registration Quality is responsible for performing quality assurance audits of registration data and for coordinating the activities of the registration caregivers within the Emergency Department and Outpatient areas. In this role, you will work within Akron General as well as float to other sites such as Stow, Green and Bath Health and Wellness Centers and Lodi, as needed. The Coordinator role is key to both the patient experience and the revenue cycle. Failure to train consistently, to monitor new caregivers and to perform QA can result in delay in patient flow, delay in the revenue cycle/billing process and a poor patient experience. This opportunity will help you advance your skills each day and can lead to growth in other roles within Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with on-call requirements.
Travel between Stow, Bath, Green and Lodi will be required as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Audit productivity and perform quality review of registration data.
Provide training and weekly reports regarding productivity and quality to supervisor.
Coordinate the activities of registration staff for assigned area of responsibility.
Assign duties to staff based on the patient volume peaks and departmental needs.
Perform rounding, listen and view staff interaction with patients, visitors and other employees to ensure compliance with customer service standards and inform supervisor of findings.
Coach staff as necessary based on established policies and procedures including registration, verification systems, payer requirements and patient rights and provide specialized training when needs arise.
Develop collaborative working relationships with medical staff and other staff members to ensure efficient and timely patient flow and with patient financial services to ensure accurate and timely billing.
Monitor and assist staff as needed with point of service collection process for assigned area (e.g. admissions, ambulatory test/procedures, ED) as it relates to assigned area to include monitoring the application of payments and cash control procedures.
Assist with system set-up and testing for applications related to Patient Scheduling and Registrations area to include setting up tables and users in new and existing applications.
Monitor and assist financial counseling process to advise and assist uninsured and under-insured patients at the point of service to include interviewing to determine eligibility for HCAP and CARE programs that provide free or discounted care.
Assist with staffing coverage and take call.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Two years of experience working in a health care setting
Knowledge of registration and/or revenue cycle systems and procedures
Proficient in the use of computer software applications (e.g. Word/Excel)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
