About The Role

Salary: $150,000 - $170,000

Looking for a higher salary? Apply anyway! This band is a reflection of the job description as written. We are more than happy to speak to more experienced candidates who may require a higher salary and discuss that experience in our first phone screen.

Our Experiences team is responsible for the user journey of an individual taxpayer. We build end to end experiences that help consumers plan, understand, and file their taxes seamlessly. We think obsessively about how to give consumers ease around tax must-dos like filing and expand the possibilities of their financial lives after-filing.

As a Product Manager you’ll lead the Experiences team and will set the strategy, roadmap, and requirements to create personal, streamlined, and trustworthy experiences for all taxpayers. This includes end-to-end ownership of critical flows starting from user onboarding to support to payment initiation and everything in between for a taxpayer in the filing process.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate. Lead April’s flagship tax filing product and build a seamless experience that improves the financial lives of millions of taxpayers.
  • Build. You will drive forward product development processes for all aspects of the product through the entire lifecycle from ideation to launch to iteration and adaptation through daily prioritization and collaboration with your team and stakeholders.
  • Be the taxpayer. Embody the voice of the customer and develop intimate user understanding through customer research, interviews, and data to maximize user delight and conversion through to the ultimate goal.
  • Be the client. Ensure our clients reach their goals in implementing april and align around better serving the taxpayer at the same time.
  • Communicate. Clearly document your decisions and roadmap to share with the entire organization to facilitate clarity and mutual understanding of reasoning.
  • Strategize. Craft and execute longer term product strategy in collaboration with the whole development organization.

Requirements:

  • 5+  years of Product Management or equivalent experience.
  • Deep experience building consumer-facing digital products that evoke delight and recurring usage guided by extreme empathy for customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new complex domains quickly and thoroughly.
  • A strong bias towards execution and an ability to operate (and help others operate) in areas with low-information or yet-to-be-defined direction.
  • History of driving delivery of complex projects with multiple partners and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ability to both operate at a strategic level and dive deep into the technical details and complexity with ease.
  • A mindset of openness and intellectual growth that seeks individual learning and to facilitate the learning of your peers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus points:

  • Experience with B2B / B2B2C embedded applications
  • Domain expertise in tax planning, advisory, or other related discipline
