RN Director of Cardiovascular ICU and Telemetry

M-F 8am-5pm with after-hours call as needed


The CV/CICU is a 24-bed Intensive Care inpatient unit that provides nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The CV/CICU utilizes Evidence Based Practice to provide quality and effective care to our patients daily. Shared Governance allows the staff to integrate core values and beliefs that professional practice embraces, and provides a framework that aligns nursing with UMC’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Staff engagement and input are significant as we continue on our Pathway to Magnet journey.

In the CV/CICU, the nursing care delivery model is Primary Care Nursing. The nurse-to-patient ratio is a goal of 2 patients per nurse and higher acuity patients require 1 nurse per patient. This can be adjusted by the charge nurse according to patient and staffing needs. This delivery care model dictates that the ideal candidate must be able to coordinate needed patient care with all disciplines.

Plans, supervises and evaluates patient care and nursing personnel of a specific nursing unit on a 24-hour basis. In compliance with the Philosophy of the Department of Nursing, will be responsible for operations of a specific nursing unit to ensure quality patient care, competent and responsible personnel management and cost efficient and effective utilization of unit resources.


Qualifications:

-Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
-Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
-Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
-Minimum of 5 years RN experience required
-MSN Required
-Previous leadership/management experience required
-Certification preferred
