Principal Data Steward - Finance

Summary of Role:

Create, maintain, and reconcile finance master data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organization-wide data standards, policies, and finance data strategy.

Resources to maintain mapping of GL accounts and cost centers between SAP and Oracle to ensure both systems stay in sync are identified. This process definition is critical to run the daily interface.

During the Enterprise Transformation, reconcile finance data (e.g., Finance code block, data fields) across Oracle and SAP platforms and perform data maintenance and data cleansing activities to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure data is available, consistent, reliable, accessible, secure and timely to support the mission of the organization
  • Maintain master data and reference data standards, policies and conceptual models
  • Assure the management of data quality monitoring practices and generate and remediate recurring master data reports
  • Manage Finance code block in SAP (Company Codes, Chart of Accounts, Cost Center, Profit Center), including mapping of Oracle changes to SAP and vice versa
  • Understand and Review Supplier Financial data fields in SAP MDG
  • Map data fields (along with transformation logic) from the legacy to SAP (supported by IT and Business organizations)
  • Supports in the implementation, execution, and monitoring of existing and new data quality rules for Finance data domain
  • Help triage and prioritize all incoming requests, communicating and escalating any bugs/downtime to appropriate stakeholders
  • Actively researches, identifies, and flags data quality flaws address to respective Data Stewards

Primary Skills:

  • Strong data analysis, data quality management, and technical proficiency in data mapping and transformation
  • Effective communication and collaboration with business and IT teams to support data-centric strategies
  • Understanding of finance industry principles, regulations, and financial data management
  • Project management skills

Experience with the following Technology Tools:

  • SAP MDG
  • SAP S/4 Hana
  • Oracle
  • Vertex
  • Service Now

Education and Qualification Requirements-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in data science, Information Management, business Administration or any related field.
  • 5+ Years of experience in data governance, data quality management or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of Finance Systems, Sales and OTC process, Data management principles and process improvement best practices (LEAN).
  • Excellent Project management skills with the ability to lead cross functional teams (Agile Experience)
  • Knowledge in data visualization and report tools (Eg Tableau, Power BI).
