The Specialized Analytics Senior Lead is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.

Responsibilities:

  • Incumbents work with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies

  • Identifies and compiles data sets using a variety of tools (e.g. SQL, Access) to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business to business outcomes

  • Responsible for documenting data requirements, data collection / processing / cleaning, and exploratory data analysis; which may include utilizing statistical models / algorithms and data visualization techniques

  • Incumbents in this role may often be referred to as Data Scientists

  • Specialization in marketing, risk, digital and AML fields possible

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • Working experience in a Financial industry preferred

  • Deep modeling expertise and experience with analytic techniques and tools

  • Excellent analytical thinking, practical problem solving abilities, and partnership skills

Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a new function in the 1st Line of Defense, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed across its Institutional Client Group organization. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit risk across the enterprise.  Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (ICM-UW) provides analysis, greenlight, underwriting, first-line-of-defense credit approval and subsequent credit monitoring across all wholesale credit businesses including Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory, Global Structured Products, Financings, and Securitizations (GSP-F&S), Treasury & Trade Services (TTS), Markets, and Securities Services (MSS).   

Citi’s Petroleum Engineering staff is responsible for evaluating the client's oil and gas reserves for determining the proper loan asset values for oil and gas exploration & production companies in conjunction with new financing transactions under consideration plus semi-annual borrowing base redeterminations. The engineering position supports the process by performing analysis and risk assessment of client engineering data. In addition, the engineering staff provides industry insight to support the Business and Risk organizations. This role reports directly to a ICM Underwriting Head of Natural Resources.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Executes, aligned with global and regional strategies, all responsibilities regarding underwriting, including, but not limited to:

  • Acquisition and evaluation of quantitative data to monitor performance of oil and gas assets

  • Data input, organization, manipulation, and presentation of oil and gas cash flow projections

  • Execution of engineering software (ARIES, PHDWin) to analyze data and prepare forecasts

  • Extraction of model cash flow projections into Excel-based credit models to assess asset performance

  • Preparation of narrative engineering reports and supporting documentation

  • Routine correspondence with internal partners and external clients related to engineering matters

  • Preparation of internal reports related to the oil and gas portfolio

  • Ad-hoc training presentation for Credit and Banking staff

  • Adherence to credit policy and due diligence guidelines

  • Facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking and Risk and with key Regulators, Internal Audit, and control functions

  • Support the ICM Underwriting Global Head of ICM Corporate Developed Markets Credit Underwriting and Head of Natural Resources on strategic initiatives/projects

  • Support VOE initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Petroleum Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with preference for some field experience
